Uneventful But Still Stressful

13 Feb

Sup friends. This week has been pretty uneventful for the most part. Here are a few highlights.

  • Sunday was my half birthday. Now I have a little less than 6 months until I can legitimately sing Taylor Swift’s 22 and understand what it means. LOL
  • Tuesday was Mizzou’s 175th birthday. Happy Birthday, Mizzou! Thanks for the free cake and t-shirt!
  • Also on Tuesday, I ran into my cousin in the bookstore and found out he has been a TA for the past year. NO ONE TELLS ME ANYTHING. Then I ran into Nick on the way to class after that.
  • Tuesday, I watched Shaun White become Sad Shaun White. I was pretty upset all day to be honest, especially since I spoiled the results for myself by scrolling through Twitter. Watching him fall was heartbreaking.  I blame the Russians and the damn slushy half pipe.
  • All week I’ve been running around like a crazy woman, trying to find someone to cover my demo shift on Saturday at HV since my dad and step-mom are coming into town.
  •  Today I found out I’m getting checker trained next week and I’m so happy! It’s been a long time coming.
  • I downloaded Flappy Bird before they took it off the app markets. I’m addicted. My high score right now is 47.
  • I’ve been really into Bastille lately. This is one of my favorite songs from them right now, although I’m not sure about the music video. LOL. How surprised are you that I’m into a British band?

Anyway, like Cathy, this next week is getting pretty busy. Along with having 3 shifts this next week at HV, I have an art project to start preparing/working on, a speech to research and write, a paper to start writing and a test to start studying for. And my online pathophysiology class starts next week too. EEEEEK.

Happy early Single’s Awareness day! And Happy early President’s day!

Peace out, girl scouts.

Interview Woes.

8 Feb

Sorry for the late update! But the end of this week was kind of a busy one, even with the 2 snow days we got!

Yes lots of snow. And I had a lot of homework that had to be done.

Wednesday night Tristian and Jordan picked us up and we went out to celebrate Kendyl’s birthday. After failed attempts to find a place that was open and would let T and Jordan in, we finally decided to go to El Rancho where Kendyl was able to purchase her first legal Margarita. After that we went to Taco Bell. Haha.

Thursday I worked. After getting off rather late, I had a million things to do, like do laundry, pack to go home, practice what I was going to say in my nursing interview the next day, and sleep.

Friday morning, I woke up kind of later than I wanted to even after I set an alarm. After getting ready, I left the apartment with about 30 minutes until my interview thinking that’s more than sufficient. Little did I know that the Hernes bus was going to be late. With 15 minutes left until my interview I knew I was going to have to run to get to the nursing building on time. Did I mention that it felt like -10 degrees plus it was a little bit windy? Anyway I got to the nursing building with 5 minutes until my time, my nose was running, my face was frozen, and I was wheezing like nobody’s business. And the interviews were running about 5 minutes behind. Lovely.

The interview itself was pretty good I think. The interviewers were super nice, again. And I hope I answered the questions appropriately. I always think it’s going to be a lot worse than it actually is. Anyway, I have to wait another 2ish weeks before I will know. I hope I get in. So badly.

Also, OLYMPICS. AND SHAUN WHITE. EEEK.

Okay well must get back to that homework now.

Peace out, girl scouts.

I will probably never add to it or look at it again, if I do anything else on this list it will be because I woke up one morning and thought to myself  “I am going to do (insert awesome thing here) today”.

Next weekend I plan on going backcountry snowboarding off Loveland Pass. I plan on hiking from my car at the summit along the top of the peaks until I am about a half mile into the backcountry, where I will hopefully find fresh powder and not trigger a avalanche. Wish me Luck!

Dislocated Shoulder

9 Dec

Last Tuesday I dislocated my left shoulder. I was snowboarding pretty fast (around 40 mph) down a not very busy part of the mountain when I jumped off a roller only to see a guy sitting on the other side. I didn’t see him until I was already in the air so when I landed all I could do to avoid him was make a very hard cut to my left. But the cut was too much for my knee which gave out causing my toe side edge to dig into the snow slamming me forward onto my head and shoulder which I felt and heard pop out of place on impact. Luckily I was able to pop it back in place with only one try, and I didn’t have to snowboard down the mountain with my shoulder out of its socket swinging around freely. Its been pretty sore very since I dislocated it and it makes a popping noise any time I lift anything or move my arm fast which sucks because my job is a lot of lifting things/people and having quick hands. I’m a little worried I might have torn something in my shoulder just because of the constant pain I have had the last week and the fact that I cant even hold my arm straight out without it shaking real bad and giving out.

It’s been snowing off and on but mainly on for about 4 straight days now and it’s not supposed to stop for another 2 days. A lot of snow means new terrain will open on the mountain very soon, which is great because I am getting bored with riding overcrowded green and blue runs. I’m ready for all the steeper  more challenging black diamond runs to open up along with tree skiing. All this snow also means powder to ride which I enjoy doing for than pretty much anything on earth. I don’t think there is anything more fun than floating through a few feet of fresh snow making fast sharp turns while bombing down the mountain as fast as possible.

About a week ago the Super Pipe here became the first in the world to open this winter. Being the only one in the world open it naturally attracted pretty much every professional skier and snowboarder on earth. In my last two weeks of work I have seen, met, or talked to more Olympic skiers/snowboarders then I can name, including two of my favorite snowboarders Shaun White and Louie Vito. I have wanted to learn to ride pipe since I first started snowboarding 5 years ago. But since my knee is still healing from ACL surgery I am going to wait another month until it’s at full strength, then I will finally ride a super pipe.

It’s hard for me to blog about my time here because for the most part I do the same things every day and every night. I either work all day and snowboard some, or I don’t work at all and I get to snowboard all day and every night I bro down throw down with my fellow employees (party, chill, have as much fun as humanly possible). I have snowboarded everyday for the last 31 days and although fun and super awesome I feel like it’s a little boring to blog about after a month and a half.

What Would Shaun White Do.

If you haven’t already heard about it here is a link to the story about Shaun White getting arrested the other night. The guy is the ultimate bro; I mean seriously I wish I were there to witness it all. I envy him because as some of you might know being arrested is on my bucket list.

I have two tests tomorrow in Biology and Nutrition, and I’m currently taking a break from Nutrition to write this. I don’t really appreciate my Nutrition class because I feel like they’re trying to make me rethink eating a whole package of Oreos, but you know what I’ll do what I damn well please. Also the Halloween Oreos are out and they are my favorite!

This weekend Guano and me went to a Mizzou event, “Mizzou on the Mall”, and got free cake and Tiger Stripe ice cream. They also had a photo booth and free rock candy so you know we hit those things up.

Since 1. I don’t own a Television and 2. We don’t have cable we have been going places to watch the football games on Saturday nights. This Saturday we went to Shakespeare’s Pizza to watch the game. God I love Pizza.

Keep it Classy.

P.S. I am about to apply for my first passport and will hopefully be going to Finland over Christmas Break! 🙂

Aswians.

21 Mar

They are taking over the world. Offense Megan (like no offense, but I actually want to offend).

I titled this Aswians because Tristan does this thing where he rubs his hair and makes it stick up and then says “Asians”. I like to do this especially when I’m with Megan and Lei and I see other asians (the squintier the better…. maybe that was too far.)

Spring Break was good. And yes I’m going to be that vague because I am lazy.

My first day working at the marina was Saturday and I had to be there by 7am. 7am! I am going to be working as a cashier and basically that entails checking people out, doing fishing licenses, boat rentals, cleaning etc. etc. Some of the people are interesting… and there is a kid who has a remarkable resemblance to Nick Yeisley. They are also EXTREMELY sexist. They have all of the guys working as dockhands and all of the girls working as cashiers. It makes me want to punch someone, but i’m getting paid so I guess I won’t. (also I don’t necessarily want to clean gross boats so thats ok)

If you are living under a rock and didn’t hear Peyton Manning chose the Broncos (what an ass). Also Shaun White won both superpipe and slope style at the X-games in Tignes.

This is a nice little surprise I saw on Create TV today (public television for those of you clueless people with cable).

Yes that is Bradley Cooper. You are welcome.

Spring soccer practices started today and I’m so over them. We ran 2 Carolinas and 2 soccer 100’s and my legs feel sooooo heavy.

Keep it Classy.

P.S. This is not late on the east coast and fo’ morgan. morgan freeman. ok im just rambling now. but i really do like morgan freeman. he is awesome and has the best voice ever.

Treat Yo’ Self

14 Feb

Sometimes you just have to “Treat yo’ self”

So I decided to treat myself to a snowboard. You may be thinking “What the hell Kendyl, you live in Missouri,” and I am completely aware. The thing is I’ve only snowboarded once, but I loved it. I sucked, but falling on my butt 100 times was actually really fun (I’m sure staying up is more fun, but I haven’t gotten to that skill level yet.) I also fully plan to win a snowboarding competition one day and maybe be the female equivalent of Shaun White and Morgan will be the female equivalent of a really good skier because I don’t know any famous skiers names(ok so maybe that’s a little out of reach.)

Friday we treated ourselves to a mini road trip, Guano, Lei, Derek, and I drove up to Northwest to visit the Dirty D. Which trust me, the name is very accurate, the whole place smells like ass. Also there was a guy working the front desk who I swear could have been Shaun White’s brother.

I have found out that I love being in the car, although sometimes it might suck, most of the time it is pretty great. The car rides are half the fun of everything.

Sunday night Guano and I (<< look at that grammar :)) stayed up until 4:00am studying for our anatomy quiz in the union. On our way back to the dorm we got to walk through the wonderful snow! Also on Monday it was a snow day miracle and my 7:45am and 12:30pm classes were canceled so the only class I had was Responsible Self at 1:30. Then instead of practice at 3:00 the whole team watched an inspirational soccer movie called “Rise and Shine: The Jay DeMerit Story” which was actually pretty good, and better than doing ball skills on the basketball court. Then after my chapter meeting Guano, Lei, and I made a super sexy snowman which we named “Mittens Romney” and did some seductive poses with him 😉 << winky face. And now I’m at the perch treating myself to a caramel macchiato… and a Dr. Pepper.

I also forgot one of the best things that happened was we learned the real meaning of Zesty from Urban Dictionary. Zesty- adjective used to describe someone that has done something gay. The example they gave was “You got on a pink shirt!? You ol’ zesty ass nigga!”

Here are some of my current favorite songs. I’m showing this to you because some people that only listen to rap, Katy Perry, and Justin Beiber need a little help finding good music, but I tried not to single anyone out there.

1. Somebody That I Used to Know- Gotye

2. Tongue Tied- Grouplove

3. Little Talks- Of Monsters and Men

Sometime this week I plan on making my bucket list that way I can cross things of when I accomplish them!

Keep it Classy wherever you might be.

-Kendyl

P.S. I was going to write about things that were trending on yahoo, but I have no interest in most of those things, so here is a purple squirrel that was trending a week ago.

Today I saw a video on breading cats. I dont know if you’ve heard of it before. But here’s a picture.

I’m not the biggest fan of cats (for one I’m allergic but depending on which cat they are, they can be cute) but I found this rather hilarious.

Anyway, XGames were freaking awesomely ganstalicious and nothing less!! My appreciation for Shaun White has definitely gone up. And seeing him make history by getting a perfect score was so so so great! I’m sure it’ll be something I tell my kids one day. LOL.
Also, I ended up joining a sorority– the little bit socially awkward sorority (i had no other choice actually. there are some girls I know I’ll be okay being around and have a good time and what-not, but there are others that I don’t think I would have said a word to ever if I wasn’t in this sorority). I’m not sure how well it will go, I just have to see. But I can almost safely say that I will be flat broke if I don’t get a job soon. I just emailed a lady about getting a job on campus. We’ll see how that goes… I’ll keep you updated.
Last night I didn’t go to bed until about 2.30. Not good when you have class at 7.45. I totally didn’t even hear my alarm go off the 7 times it did. When I woke up, I was like “Hum… it’s awfully bright outside for 7 am” little did I know it was 7.43. I got ready in like 5 minutes (probably a record time).

That it for now. Hope you’re all swell!
Megan

UPDATE:
Look what I found in my psych book!!

Burn him at the Stake.

24 Jan

I guess I have to blog since I made this suggestion about Nick.

Classes are good, while my amount of sugar intake is not. My two views on this are that I am young and can eat whatever I want, but on the other hand Diabetes runs in my family. I’m working on it. Gradually. I’ll start after I finish my box of junior mints.

Everything seems to fall on the same week. This week is recruitment for the sororities so I’m going through to see if I want to join, I’m not really sure yet, too soon to tell. I also have to make sure I get everything for school done early since I will be missing several days for the X-Games. The X-Games. The X stands for EXTREME. I can not express on this blog how excited I am to see Shaun White! I’m also excited about the fact that I will be consuming copious amounts of red bull.

The NFL disappointed me, not to mention the Packers losing early on, but both the teams I wanted to see in the Super bowl (Ravens and 49ers) are out. What a troll.
The only positive thing from this is now Aaron Rodgers and Greg Jennings can actually play in the Pro bowl.

Here is a video my brothers showed me. Most of you probably won’t appreciate it, but I find it hilarious.

P.S. The sour will soon be removed.
Sometimes codes just make things better.
