Librarian 4 Life.

2 Apr

Everything is right in the world because I am once again working in a library. Today was my first day and I went through a computer program that refreshed me on shelving (MU uses library of congress, but at Jewell they used Dewey Decimal) and I put 3 carts of books in order. The 4 hours actually went by pretty quickly and I think I’m going to like this job.

Friday Meiguan and I road tripped to St. Louis to visit one of our friends from Jewell Mary Ann. When we got there she was in an interview, so we killed time by going to target and trying White Castle for the first time. Those tiny burgers were pretty disturbing and I am confident in saying I won’t be eating there again. Then we met her at her house and headed out for St. Louisian adventures. First, we went to a pretzel place called Gus’s Pretzels. They were cheap and delicious and I really wish we had one here. Next we went to the Zoo because its free and we got to see penguins, giraffes, elephants, and various baby animals (How did they get so tiny!?!). After that we went to visit the good ole’ arch and took lots of various arch pictures. Let me just tell you that I am the master of self timer… even if it means having to use a trash can and getting my face dangerously close to garbage. We finished the day by going to an ice cream place called Ted Drewes. I got a pineapple sundae, which was delicious, and then we drove 4 hours back to Indep.

Saturday my uncle got us free tickets to the Sporting KC game so me, Gentry, Kellan, and my cousin went to that. Watching it really made me miss playing soccer! After the game we went to my aunt and uncles house and chilled in their hot tub for a while and me and Gentry stayed in their guest house.

Sunday was Easter and we had lunch at my Grandma’s house. I love all holidays because of the copious amounts of delicious food I get to consume. We had ham, smoked turkey, rolls, vegies, cheesecakes, and strawberry pie (there was more, but that’s just what I ate lol). I especially like Easter because I get to hide the eggs for Max and Sam’s Easter egg hunt. This year I put one in a rose bush and after Sam grabbed it he got really upset and started ranting about who would put an Egg in a bush with thorns and how he really hurt himself. It was hilarious.

I have a Biology test Wednesday night at 8:00pm and a Chemistry test Thursday morning at 8:00am, so that pretty much sucks. I really need to get to studying!

Keep it Classy.

P.S.  Who wants to go to Buzz under the Stars night one with me!? I really really want to go.

Word Vomit: You’re Welcome

26 Mar

I’m back at school and I don’t want to be.

I don’t want to go to class or write papers or do homework or read textbooks or clean my room or unpack.

I have discovered that this week, and most other weeks, I have zero self-motivation. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Nothing. I just want to go home and go to summer camp.

So far today, I have gone to all my classes (This is a real accomplishment since I haven’t been to one of my Monday classes for 3 weeks). I have also eaten dinner and listened to the full soundtrack of my new favorite cd Legally Blonde-The Musical. If you are interested in being wowed by my broadway belting abilities I will gladly give you a show!

After my Spring Break shopping spree with my mom (Thank you so much, mom. I really like new clothes), I have the urge to dress nice for my classes- and this only happens on the first and last day of class! Sadly it’s been 30 degrees and I don’t like to be cold, so I’m sticking with my hoodies for now. (Why I am telling you what I am going to wear for the next week is not important, but now you know and I’m sure you enjoyed that!)

Now, let the countdown begin! 64 days until I start my internship at summer camp! 53 days of school left! And only 4 days until I get to leave campus for the weekend!

That’s all folks

Morgan

p.s. If any of you have great broadway voices or know of anyone who does, I would love to hear them.

p.p.s. I have also been offered the chance to be MC for Navs for the next three weeks and I accepted! Woo! I’m terrified.  I don’t know why I said yes. I will be horrible and everyone will boo or think “Why is that 6th grader giving announcements?” (It’s happened before… only I was in 6th grade and was mistaken for a 2nd grader)

p.p.p.s. Thank you for reading my word vomit

not caring about school anymore because there is only 1 month left

11 Apr

Today is the first day in a while where I don’t know what to write about, but I will try to think of something.

I always do. Thursday at 3 I left to go home for Easter, which was cool. Friday morning I had an interview for a summer job at UpDog; it was super chill and the guy who interviewed me didn’t write my answers down or anything, we just had a conversation. I think I’ll get the job.

Friday I also found out I did get selected out of like 60 people to be an ambassador, I think I wrote about that in my last post but I pretty much knew I’d get it. Friday I went to church at 3 and we dyed Easter eggs that night. I had a video assignment due Tuesday, which I had not started on, hence I had to film at home. I used my dad’s video camera, but alas, I FORGOT MY FREAKING TRIPOD HEFOWAFNMKS;NVSDZK;NVD. What a pain in the ass. I had to conduct interviews by sitting my family down at the kitchen table and putting the camera on a peanut butter jar in order to achieve proper framing.

Saturday I did my photography assignment at Carrie’s soccer game, and that was fun because I hadn’t been to one of her games since last season (fall). Moritz told her to score a goal for him before the game (she never scores goals) and lo and behold… she did! I also made mini Easter cheesecakes that I found on pinterest, and they had devil coconut on it. But I don’t mind coconut. Then we went from church from 8-10pm, and I’m almost 100% sure that I was the last one to blow out my candle when they told us to. (I kept letting mine stay lit for like 5 extra minutes.)

Sunday was Easter, Carrie woke me up too early at 8:00 am, and I went downstairs to my awesome Easter basket, including about 30,000 calories worth of chocolate. I still have this weird thing going on where I never have much of an appetite, so I didn’t eat a lot of it yet, and I left it at home when I came back to school. Who IS this person that I’m turning into?! My dad had been saying that there would be no “Amazing Race/Easter Egg Hunt” this year (Morgan, you can understand what I’m talking about) but we ended up having one anyway, he tricked us 🙂 It was a little shorter though, but it was still a lot of fun, and included but was not limited to: filling a sock up with lima beans in a relay race, sitting on a bench in a small cemetery, going to an arcade, giving cookies to firemen, and “destroying the Horcruxes” by using a slingshot to shoot marbles at 6 plates with pictures of Voldemort, Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, Professor Umbridge, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Dementors taped to them. I broke Voldemort.

Sunday night I decided I didn’t feel like driving back to school, so I played hooky on Monday! (My first time for these classes, but they are MWF at 9, 10, and 11 so I couldn’t really get back in time in the morning.) I did my Spanish homework that was due and emailed it to him. I woke up around 8:30 and left at 10:30. Got back at 1:30, skyped briefly (because Moritz is in Spain Tuesday-Thursday), and then proceeded to the Mac Lab to work on my video project.

What I was not anticipating was the fact that I had to transfer 20+ video clips to the Mac computer via MY 8GIG MEMORY CARD. That was annoying. I had to do it because a portable hard drive can’t be compatible with a mac and pc simultaneously. THEN I had to convert all the files to be able to be seen on Final Cut Pro, THEN they didn’t have sound so I had to convert them again. This took about 2 hours. By the time the video was done, I had spent a total of SEVEN CONSECUTIVE HOURS on this dang assignment. However, time went fast due to the high level of fun I was having.

(hope you guys can see it)

Tonight we’re having an event called Sex on Campus, where the human sexuality teacher answers people’s anonymous questions. I signed up to “chalk” for the event, meaning write information on the ground outside around campus. I incidentally made a trail of sperm that lead to the building in which the event is held. Clever, I know.

I’m tired of typing, you’re probably tired of reading, see you on the flip side.

Snowballs WTF.

10 Apr

Saturday I was standing at work, not doing much because it was drizzly outside and people are pansies and don’t want to rent boats when its drizzly. So I was standing at the cash register admiring the food that I don’t want to buy because I make minimum wage and I’m cheap and I found myself staring at the snowballs. I don’t know what your guys’ opinion on these particular little Debbie treat, but personally I think they are terrible. They have coconut on them (coconut is the devil), which is absolutely revolting, but they make them look so pretty. So, I was just standing there wishing that snowballs tasted as good as they looked.

Saturday after work I went shopping and spent more money than I made, but oh well I needed some more clothes. I got a nice floppy summer hat and a new bathing suite so I am ready for summer! Except I still need to buy a beach cruiser!!!

I was watching Survivor Man with Les Stroud (I don’t know how to spell his name) and decided that we are all going camping this summer (except less intense because I am not about to eat crap like grubs and tree bark).  Or maybe we should eat tree bark #YOLO

The summer after I graduate, I am already planning on going to China, but I also really want to go backpacking somewhere. Maybe Europe or the Appalachian Trail, but it is going to happen. Also I’ve been thinking, I know its three years away and all but I don’t want a real job. I don’t want to be tied down, so I’m planning on staying in school forever (ok that’s an over exaggeration, but I’m at least going for a couple more years)… Maybe I’ll join the Navy… you are guaranteed to be on a Coast right?

Easter was great. I had lots of meat, and I am a big fan of meat let me tell you. I was the first in line for food as always and I gorged myself with ribs, chicken legs, ham, potatoes, and rolls (yes I had to tell you everything I ate).  We hid the Easter eggs for Max and Sam and we hid them extra hard because its fun to watch them wander around with looks of cluelessness.

A month and one day left for me and then I’m free… kind of. I hope these last few weeks of school don’t kill me and that I pass anatomy.

-Kendyl

P.S. Today is Tom’s day without shoes, but I’m a fan of shoes so I have a dilemma.

P.P.S. You guys should look at the views by country, we’re kind of big in Malaysia. The Malaysians love us.

The Easter Bunny came!

8 Apr

So I don’t remember much about the week, I was bored and busy and whatevs. I did get to change my major this week; I am now officially an Anthropology major! Which means that my 200 level geology class and my organismal biology class are useless. Yipee.

BUT the fun started this weekend! Thursday I went to this cute little burger place called JB’s that reminds me of Hiboys and I love it. They make their own root beer and the floats are phenomenal. I also went to our Spring Dance Concert. It was different, but a new experience and I hope to continue to go to our school plays and productions after I finish my Theatre class. Friday Tori, Kendal, and I headed to Castle Rock for the weekend. That evening the three of us plus Kyle went to see the Hunger Games, my second time to see it and it was just as great. Saturday we had lunch at a New York style pizza place and that was divine. Saturday also included shopping, we spent the whole day driving from place to place and I only bought one thing. One Thing!

Then Easter! Tori’s mom got all of us Easter baskets, I love presents and candy and that’s what Easter baskets are all about. I woke up ridiculously early this morning and would you like to know how that happened? Well their mean rat/dog (really it’s a pomeranian) scratched its way into Tori’s room and found my air mattress and decided that pounding her front paws on my mattress would be a great idea. I was not too happy for a little bit but then I ate a cinnamon roll and opened my basket and I was okay ha.

I don’t want to go back to school or even think about how soon finals and lab practicals are. ugh.

peace out and don’t get cavities please

It’s already APRIL

2 Apr

I forgot to blog.
April Fools! I was just really busy and this will be the only “joke” I’ve played on anyone today. Did you all play any tricks on anyone?
Alright so my week was short, but the weekend was long. That has to be the best formula for a week there is.

Monday I had an interview with the baseball coaches about the position of Bat Girl. I think it went relatively well. It lasted a total of ten minutes, but in that time I chatted it up about the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field, and found out that the coach’s first declared major was geology- just like me! So I think I made a good impression and I should know about the internship at the end of this week or the beginning of next. I will keep you posted! Monday I also started taking allergy medicine and man it makes me drowsy- so drowsy that all I did Tuesday was sleep.

Wednesday I learned how to tie Bowline on a Bight and a Fisherman’s knot. I also learned how to belay. I feel so cool because I know this stuff. Like for real. I am totally new to all this so I lucked out when my partners during grounds school were pretty much pro-climbers. One of their names is J.J. and he helped me a lot, and I hope he is the one that my life is entrusted upon while I’m climbing tomorrow because he sure knows what he is doing.

Thursday, Kendal and I went to find storage places in Greeley so we can keep our winter and bulky items here over the summer. We had to go to 4th avenue… the train tracks are on 6th avenue. Here’s the number one rule on campus: Don’t cross the train tracks.
Side note- we (The University of Northern Colorado) have a whole website devoted to this on facebook. I think it’s stellar, and if you would like to look at more just search for University of Northern Colorado Meme page. (I don’t really know how to spell that “M” word but, I think you get what I’m trying to communicate.)
Ok so we get to this storage place and no one is there. The gates are locked and it really just looks deserted. The next door neighbors own a huge bloodhound that hasn’t stopped barking since our arrival and all the signs are like hand painted on plywood. If this isn’t sketch then I don’t know what is folks. We tried to find other places but this one is dirt cheap, split between 2 people it will cost $70 and my dad was anticipating $200! This is a steal- I just don’t know if I want to chance my things being stolen. Also on Thursday is Nav Night. After that, Kendal and I went to J.J.’s house because he was hosting a worship night. We got there and I was a little skeptical because I only knew one person there and we aren’t like great friends. But it turned out to be a great experience and I am looking forward to next time.

Friday night was great fun. My hall got together and played Fugitive! I love that almost everyone on my floor is so nice and fun and open and likes to stay sober every once in a while. After 2 rounds, we played capture the flag then hit a couple hitches- there were rule disputes and a couple of cranky folks so we opted to walk to the McDonald’s for snacks instead. The weather was perfect and we all enjoyed our fun filled evening outside; we finished the night with the movie Thor. I had never seen it but I am a huge fan now.

Saturday Tori and I spent some time alone and went shopping for Easter stuff. I ended the day with 2 shirts purchased and nothing to wear for Easter.
That leads us to today. Sunday was so beautiful! I had a soccer game at 1 and we won by like 6 against a team of giants. Then I stayed out on the scorching hot turf to watch another hour long game and finished the day with a gnarly farmer’s tan. It’s more like a burn but…. details details…
I will end this post with Happy Palm Sunday, Happy Monday, Happy Good Friday and See you Soon!!
~Morgan

P.S. I have noticed that I really love to use adjectives. I hope that it doesn’t bother you and only adds to your wild reading experience! (See what I did there)

p.p.s. It is so windy here that, even with the windows closed and a fan running, the wind is howling so loud that it just woke up Tori, and that is hard to do once she’s in bed asleep. I hate wind.

p.p.p.s. Rock Chalk Jayhawk, KU!
