Let’s Roll

11 Feb

Things to accomplish this week:

  • Find a house
  • Send out my Valentines
  • Call my parents (haven’t talked to them in awhile land I need more help in house hunting- its scary)
  • Write my “This I Believe” essay (Do you all remember doing this in Thompson’s class?)
  • Finish hanging all my photos and postcards
  • homework
  • Study with (cute) boy for a Meteorology test on Thursday
  • Analyze two post-modern picture books
  • Find a math tutor
  • Meet with my English professor

Yeah, so, let’s not forget I still need to go to class and do everyday homework and go to Bible Study and prep and execute a Valentine’s Day party and hopefully go to the gym to release some stress. Let the week begin! ….well right after I catch up on Glee and The Bachelor… I know, I’ve got my priorities straight!

So, if you all see me on facebook or pinterest or twitter or whatever, yell at me to get back to my list! I’m going to need help staying focused this week.

-Morgan

p.s. I wish I would have written my This I Believe essay in high school…. because then I wouldn’t have to work so hard on it now. I am having so much trouble finding the one thing I believe in and writing about it, plus I am super scared to go into class and have my peers edit it- especially because most of them won’t agree with what I have written so far! -Tangent- One kid wrote about how they believe that going to college and following society’s view of how the world works is stupid and that no one should be an art major- um hello! You are in college right now! Sorry to burst your bubble.

p.p.s I hope you all have a fun Valentine’s Day, but more importantly, that your Ash Wednesday is even better!

Back to School

23 Jan

Well, here I am, back at school. Upon my return, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean I’d left my room before break. I watched the Bachelor which was clearly much more important than unpacking.

Yesterday I had all three of my Spanish classes in a row. I think I’m going to like this. It really gets me “in the zone” to the point where I begin composing my text messages in Spanish when class gets over. And I have the same teacher who I love for the two of the classes. Basically all we did was say to the class: “Me llamo Cathy. Estoy en mi segundo año de universidad. Mis especializaciones son Español y Advertising and Public Relations. Soy de Kansas City.” Yep. Said that 3 times yesterday, mostly to people that I already knew and certainly to people who had already heard it once or twice that day.

I had a little bit of a book catastrophe. I gave my mom the list of 8 books before I went to Germany and she told me that she was able to get 6 of them. Unfortunately, at that point in time, the list I found on the website seemed not to have been updated. So one book I have is flat out wrong, and I still need 5 additional ones. How did my professors know about my passionate love for spending all my money on textbooks?

Last night was my first day of work at the new facility, and also my first day since like 6 weeks ago. During these 6 weeks, they also changed the computer system that is used so I had a feeling I was going to be really dumb and not very helpful at this job. I was right. But I learned a lot. I’m not sure if this was intentional but this center seems to have been built so that the receptionists can’t just sit in literally the same spot for the whole night and conduct all necessary business. Nope, there’s a lot more getting up and walking around and not being as lazy. Actually, I’m sure it was intentional. Lol. Also, they caught a mouse like 10 seconds after I walked in the door. Classy!

Not much else to say except that I’m really excited for this semester! I’m just trying to forget about last semester, The Semester From Hell, and I’m feeling really re-energized and positive and ready to get into these classes that I might actually be interested in. I hope it lasts!

Oh, and I’m really glad I got to see most of you over break, with the exception of Derek! Too bad we weren’t all home at the same time though! And Germany was awesome of course, I already talked about it with Megan and Kendyl but I also updated the “Our Travels” section of the blog!

Hope your guys’ first week (or second) (or 70-somethingth day of snowboarding) is going well!

I get the most mail

26 Feb

Favorite quote of the week: “You get the most mail out of anyone I know” – Ian (my RA)

This is what happened this week

Monday: Bible study night. We are covering Hebrew. And this next week we will sharing our testimonies with the group which I am excited about because I will get to know everyone better, but I am also dreading this because sharing your testimony with people you don’t really know that well is hard and mine is just real not the most cheery thing. Ha well I don’t know if that matters… actually it doesn’t but this is what girls think about. Also, Monday night was the Bachelor and Ben kicked off Kaci B. STUPID! I hate Courtney with all my heart. Why is she still there! ugh.

Tuesday: Lab practical time. (And for those of you who are unfamiliar with the term ‘practical’ it is the same as a lab exam, but we just call it a practical). I was so nervous that I couldn’t study. Which is probably the worst thing ever, but oh well. Despite my lack of studying, I think I faired fairly well. (What an awful sentence but I am leaving it). I stayed in lab until everyone was gone and then asked my TA to like quiz me on all the test questions which actually means he just gave me all the answers and I thought it would make me feel really stupid, but it didn’t which is great! That was a run-on sentence I think. oops

Wednesday: I slept all day. I don’t know why, but I just ignored my alarm and slept until one in the afternoon. It felt great, but then I felt really guilty about skipping my bio lecture. I also had to write a critique on the play I saw a week ago, and I waited until one hour before the class to write it, bad idea, but it’s done and I will have a grade and I liked it.

Thursday: Realized that the last day to sign up for intramural soccer was friday.

Friday: Found 7 people and signed up for outdoor intramural soccer just in time. Also my TA for bio was teaching in my bio lecture so I went to it and he only took up 30 of the 50 min class! That was pretty nice. Another thing, Tori went to Boulder for the night and so that left me with an empty room. I was real lonely. Oh but Stepf was in her room with a boy drinking alcohol. Around 1am Saara was awake and we skyped, I miss her, and then around 2am Stepf was throwing up in the bathroom that I just cleaned! ugh. I really don’t like it when underaged people drink, I guess you could call me a prude, but I absolutely hate it when underaged people can’t hold the liquor they decided to consume then throw it all up. It smells. Real bad.

Saturday: Watched the MU KU game, and KU won!!! Yes! Best day ever. Also, it was about 60 degrees outside so I went out and played soccer in the afternoon. It was wonderful. But the winds here are so strong, and every day that it is warm and enjoyable the winds just make it cold again. I have decided that I can only live in a place that is warm with light breezes and no gusting winds ever. Oh and Kendal and I made cookies from a pinterest recipe! The ones where the Oreo cookies are covered in chic. chip cookie dough. Holy cow, they are delicious.

Sunday: Went to church then to brunch. I saw one of the 5th floor hotties eating brunch and he actually acknowledged my presence. This should happen regularly since we played on the same indoor soccer team for 2 months, but after Christmas break he has not spoken to me (and we always eat dinner at the same time  around the same area and everyone else at his table exchanges small talk with me so he just makes everything awk). Wow, I sound really stupid right now, but this is what I think about sometimes. ha.

Prospects for the week to come: I will finally not be sore from skiing; it will be March and that means Spring break is like 10 days away!; is it sad that I only have 2 things to be excited for in a week? I hope not.

Talk to you all soon! Since I gave up Facebook for lent, I feel really unconnected from the world, so if anything ultra exciting happens…. put it on Google+

~Morgan

p.s. I really can’t wait until Spring Break and I know I will see ALL of you then! March 9th-18th if you need reminding (;

Zac Efron > everything

22 Feb

(Let me preface by saying that the correct title of this post is “Zac Efron > everything” but thanks to this weird ass font, this was not achieved.)

Hello everyone. Once again, it seems that I have survived the week all the way until Wednesday.

Not too much has been going on with me. Last weekend I went home, so that was pretty nice. You know how today is the beginning of Lent? And yesterday was “Fat Tuesday”… well let’s just say my family and I celebrated Fat Tuesday all weekend. And it was good. So good. Doritos, ice cream, Chinese buffet, chocolate Chex Mix, gummy bears, popcorn, cereal (and other deliciousness) were at my disposal, and I’ll also say that I consumed them in a way similar to a garbage disposal. But me and my mom decided to start Weight Watchers for Lent so we can go shopping for skinny clothes later on in the spring.

On Friday my mom got me an eye appointment to find out what was wrong and why I was having pain in my eye. The eye doctor flipped my eyelids inside out and said the problem was that I am having a severe allergic reaction to an unknown factor. Hmm, severe allergic reactions to unknown factors seem to be something I am very good at. Anyway, he said my eyelids were supposed to be smooth inside but instead they were bumpy because all the lymph nodes are swollen and that’s making them feel like sandpaper on my eyes. He made a video of my eyes somehow and I watched it and it was kind of gross. But he gave me some eye drops that really burn and I have to take them 4x a day for 45 days.

For my video class, I had another project that was due tomorrow, so I got Steven and asked him if he would help me by being a hipster again. He did not let the fact that we haven’t seen each other since graduation inhibit him. I edited it on Sunday when I got back to school and the only thing that sucks is that the wind is kind of loud for some of it, but it’s mostly alright. Then yesterday my teacher said the project wasn’t due until next Tuesday so oh well I guess.

Moritz and I are still trucking away at this whole college in America thing. He emailed Straub and asked him if he had any advice about getting recruited by a college to play soccer, and whether he thought he had a good chance of being able to play or not. Straub said yes and he even volunteered to contact the schools for him. It REALLY BLOWS because this week Moritz is at this tennis coaching seminar in Stuttgart, and he thought he would come home every day at the end (it’s about 30 min away) but when he showed up on the first day he found out he could just stay there the whole week. So he doesn’t have anything with him, like his homework or laptop or anything, and he only has 2 shirts. He said he’ll get by but I couldn’t do it. Gender differences I suppose. But anyway now he can’t work on any of his stuff he needs to finish. Yesterday I emailed all the schools he’s applying to, to ask them what materials they have received from him so far, and the ones we’ve heard back from haven’t received his TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language), which he took in December and should have sent like the ACT, automatically. And one didn’t receive his SAT which was also taken in December. Shit. So he can’t check his accounts until Friday. And they haven’t gotten his transcripts which his school secretary allegedly mailed about 2 weeks ago, and his dad mailed the bank statements about one week ago. So now I’m worried these are lost in the mail and they will never get there and apocalypse.

Sorry for rambling about that but I just have so many thoughts and it’s nice to have somewhere to say them.

Final order of business, I can’t believe that bitch Ben from the Bachelor got rid of Kacie B. As my mom said over the weekend, “He’s just a big stupid. He can never compare to how hot Zac Efron is. Never.”

Pissy

1 Feb

As I walked to my last class of the day earlier, I was thinking how nice the weather has been, how happy I am at school, and how fast time seems to be going. I was generally feeling pretty good about life.
But you know how I’m feeling now?

PISSY.

Here are a few reasons why:

1. Moritz has these really huge tests in March that they have to take in order to graduate so he’s spending a lot of time studying and not a lot of time talking to me. I understand but yesterday we talked for a grand total of….. *drum roll please*…. one hour. And today’s not looking so promising either.

2. Also, I can’t effing get a job to save my life. I even call all these places back to follow up but nope. Apparently they’re rather hire people who are incompetent and unattractive.

3. Additionally, I made this timer for my computer that counted down the days until I left for Germany. After I got back, it still alerted me every day at the time I was supposed to leave. At first it was cute but now it’s annoying and I don’t know how to make it stop, no matter if I press “Snooze” or “OK” which are my only options, and I can’t find the answer anywhere on the internet and it’s REALLY pissing me off. *

4. Finally, I just tried to distract myself from homework by reading some tabloids and blogs about the Bachelor. That is also REALLY pissing me off because I hate that bitch Courtney and I heard she wins in the end and she’s a nasty skanky whore bitchtit (I got the bitchtit part from my friend Kayla, she says it often and I felt it appropriate given the circumstances).*

*Also, these aren’t really big deals but when you add them to factors 1 & 2 (mostly 1) the magnitude of the whole situation is just enhanced by a large and arbitrary scale factor.

Now I shall objectively state some occurrences that have happened since last Wednesday.

• Playing my saxophone at basketball, and the “Fanthers” having special guests THE SWIM TEAM
• Suitemate & company vomiting in our bathroom at 1:30 am on a school night
• One value-size box of Special K being consumed in less than 24 hours
• Having a debate with my Spanish teacher and him being an idioto
• Playing tennis in the un-air conditioned gym, then my first German lesson from Kayla
• Robbery on campus
• Orange Leaf fro-yo and watching the Help until 2:00am
• Me developing my Germany pictures in the photo lab and then realizing I developed a roll of film which had no pictures on it
• Eating peanut butter out of the jar with a spoon
• Mastering 5 out of 83 learning objectives on my computer science online homework
THIS song just came up on my Adele Pandora station
• My mom playing the word “sext” in Words With Friends
