Life

28 Mar

Hey friends. I know it’s been a long while. This semester has been getting the best of me. So, I’ll try to catch you guys up on what’s been happening since I last blogged.

Basically, I didn’t get into the nursing program at MU… again. And basically it sucks. But things happen for a reason and now I’ve just reevaluating my life and my future. Upon advising, I found out that I have about 2 semesters left until I complete my undergraduate degree if I switch to health sciences, an idea that is VERY APPEALING. This week, which is spring break, I visited my cousin. I just kind of opened up to her and explained what was going on. Mainly I just feel stuck in this rut and I’m so completely burnt out on school. If we’re being accurate, I’ve been burnt out since I graduated from high school. She suggested that I finish my degree as soon as possible and get the hell out of the Midwest. She said that if I’m having a “mid-life crisis” already in my early twenties, I need a change in my life because well the 20’s are where you find out who you are. You’re supposed to be living life, learning from mistakes, and not continually stressed out about what your future is going to be, and obviously that is not me. And I really have to agree. Lately, I just have been feeling kind of stuck, with school, with life, etc. I truly believe that nursing is what I want to do, but just not right now. My cousin said that if I am really feeling this way, I should take a break, because if I force it, I’m going to start hating it.

If everything works out/goes according to plan, I’ll hope to finish my bachelor’s in a year (possibly 1.5 years) and I’ll probably be moving to Boston (somewhere I’ve always wanted to go and it’s a place totally different from the Midwest), find a job out there and stay out there for a year/2 years/ x years, and eventually, maybe, move back to KC, because honestly I really do love KC. And somewhere in there I’ll probably see if I can get into a nursing program. I just need a break from what I’ve known. Of course a lot can happen in that time, so I guess we’ll just have to see what happens.

That being said, I still applied to CMU’s nursing program. They had talked it up, saying that people like me often get into their program, and if I get in, I’m not entirely sure if I will take it. My parents are going to be disappointed probably, but I just don’t want to force anything, you know? GOD, WHY IS LIFE IS SO HARD?

Anyway, other than that, Hy-Vee is becoming my 2nd home, reading the Divergent series is how I procrastinate my time, I’m currently obsessing over Theo James and Bastille, my grades are doing alright, and I am still loathing school. My spring break was cut short because I decided to work. And I spent one day working at the marina over break while I was home. I’m really excited to go back there actually, especially since most everyone I know will be there. That being said, summer will be here in a short 1.5 months, and I’m so EXCITED.

Thanks for reading/listening to me rant on about my life. Maybe you’ll hear from me again before the semester ends, but I can’t guarantee anything!

Peace out, girl scouts.

Back to School

26 Aug

Hello everyone, now that summer break is over we are all slowly getting back into the routine of blogging every week.

I came back from my 5 month vacation snowboarding in Colorado in late march after I tore my medial meniscus snowboarding, I then started off my summer with knee surgery in May. I am working on a lake at the marina again with Kendyl and Megan. I spent the summer working, longboarding, mountain biking, rock climbing, and chilling to quickly sum it up.

I am currently taking 2 classes’ speech and math at the local community college before I get back into being a fulltime student next semester. Why just 2 classes?

1. I started paying my student loans last December and they suck and I am broke. So I decided to make myself temporarily even more broke by paying for my classes this semester in cash to avoid more loans and I could only afford two.

2. I am taking the last of my general education classes which means I need to declare a major so I know what classes to take next. This is a problem because I have no idea what the hell I want to do the rest of my life.

I really did not want to go back to college simply because I want to do too many different things, and several times I almost hit the abort button. Since coming back in March I considered, looked into, or almost did all of the following before ultimately going back to school.

  1. Joining the Air force
  2. Joining the navy
  3. Moving to Seattle (Had a job offer)
  4. Going back to Colorado (Had a Job offer)
  5. Peace corps (I filled out the first page of the application)
  6. Working in Alaska (Friend asked me to work there with him)
  7. Working in New Zealand (Friend ask me to work there with him)
  8. Working in California
  9. Without telling anyone emptying my bank account and leaving to travel the country
  10. Winning the Lottery
  11. Conservation corps abroad
  12. Starting a Company (Had partners and a business plan)
  13. Buying a one way ticket to Costa Rica to surf and live on a beach for a few years

Ultimately I went back to school which was probably the best choice but I still have no idea what career path I want to take. I wish traveling the world with friends and having fun was the description of a decent paying job because that’s all I want to do (I’m pumped for London in November).

Also this winter I will probably work as a snowboard instructor at our local ski area, I am pretty excited to spend a second straight winter working on a snowboard.

PS. Community college sucks

Derek said we should try to blog every once in a while and I’m really bored right now so I’ll write a little something. I’m on my phone though so it will probably be brief.

All I’ve been doing for the past 3.5 weeks since I’ve been home is working at IHOP and hanging out with Kendyl, Megan, and Derek. IHOP is pretty fun and I’m working pretty much full time. I just wish people tipped better. But hanging out with my friends is a good way to relax and have crazy adventures like UFO hunting and night fishing. And lots of half-price shakes from sonic and quik trip drinks, of course.

Of Monsters and Men

On may 21st Me, Megan, Kendyl, and Cathy went to the Of Monsters and Men Concert at Crossroads in downtown Kansas City, Mo.

We met the Band

While walking to the concert venue we spotted the band playing basketball in the street and got a picture, and Kendyl touched them ^

Two and a half months after tearing my medial meniscus snowboarding in Colorado I finally had surgery to repair it.

Year In Review

16 May

As of yesterday, my semester/year has finally ended, and to be honest it’s kind of bittersweet. Coming to Mizzou was never really a plan that I had planned on following through with. Though it’s been an adventure adjusting to this new environment, I feel like I made the right choice, and I hope that I’ll be able finish my education here (fingers crossed for nursing school!). That isn’t to say that I regret my year at Jewell, because I don’t. But I guess if there’s one thing I regret it’s not making the decision to come to Mizzou first, if that makes sense… Haha.

This Spring semester has most definitely, hands down, been the most challenging/stressful semester I have ever gone through. This week especially. I hate finals. It probably could almost classify as a miracle that I’ve even made it out alive. But still, for the most part I’ve enjoyed every class that I was in.

Here are some highlights/lessons learned/favorite memories of my year at Mizzou (in no particular order or importance).

  • Getting my first speeding ticket, also getting my first parking ticket (the latter was yesterday, when I almost missed my last final.)
  • Seeing Imagine Dragons preform… FOR FREE. And seeing Passion Pit and Matt & Kim for a small fee.
  • Being sick for 6 weeks. Not cool man. I’m better now though.
  • Microbiology 2800. I don’t care who you are/what your major is, you need to take this class to know the hilarity/awesomeness that is Dr. Furrer. Besides that, subject matter/teaching wise, it’s probably the best class I have ever taken. Ever.
  • Getting 2.5 snow days.
  • I can procrastinate like no body’s business. Thank you Netflix, FB, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and Imgur. That being said, apparently my body can’t handle stress that is usually a result of procrastination very well (see point #3).
  • The closest I got to an all-nighter was sleeping only for 2 hours…. On many, many, many nights.
  • Ellis library is freaking awesome. Although scary as well (I’m sure librarian Kendyl could tell you more so than I can)
  • Getting a lot of free things, including shirts and lots of food.
  • Attractive male in my history class.  He was real attractive.
  • I miss music/violin more than I thought I would, probably one downside to coming to MU.
  • I’ve been able to appreciate my family and KC a lot more now that I’m 123 miles/1.5 hours away.
  • The basement of the Student Union has very comfy couches that are GREAT for naps.
  • I probably spent too much in the bookstore on clothing/apparel and books. Gosh I really hate buying books.
  • Never take a “5 minute nap” during a study break. It never ends up being 5 minutes, no matter how hard you try to make it last only 5 minutes.

I can’t believe that I’ve just finished my 2nd year of college. CRAZY!! However I’m getting super excited for summer! Even though I’m going to be so majorly busy, wahhhh!!

Peace out for now!
Megan

PS. Sorry Cathy for kind of copying the premise of your post!!

PPS. I just got a little depressed, guys. I googled Kansas City Explorers to find out their schedule this summer. I found out that they’re moving to Irving TX because there wasn’t enough corporate support in KC to keep there here. 😦

El fin! Hasta enero, Springfield. Hasta pronto, amigos :-)

15 May

I am free! 🙂

This is a little bittersweet though. It’s been the best semester of college by far, potentially the best of my life ever. It was much needed after the worst semester of college and my life ever last semester. But this one has been awesome. I am a little sad it’s over and that I won’t see a lot of my friends and professors or be on Drury’s campus until January. But then I remember I’m going to LONDON in 3 months so I stop being sad pretty quick.

I actually haven’t been that stressed out this week. I’ve been stressed all semester, in a good way though. It kept me busy and kept me going all the time, but I just feel so satisfied when I check things off my list of things to do, so I’ve been managing my time really well. Considering how much I’ve been working, I’ve had to. So I never got panicked-stressed out.

Friday night we had our final Summit project presentations. Here’s me and my roommates outside our house wearing our Volunteer shirts we got from the shelter.

summit

Today I had my final presentation of my research project. I still can’t believe that dang project that wouldn’t go away is… gone. If anyone’s interested in learning about Media Framing of the Sandy Hook Shooting and wants to read a 17-page paper about it, hit me up. My mom told me she thought it would be really boring but it kept her attention. So there’s a testimonial, if you’re skeptical.

I got my final grades for my two Spanish classes where I have an awesome teacher. 97.75% in Spanish 302 and 97.6% in Senior Seminar! I got a 98% on both of my final papers. The other day I was talking to my professor and she said I’ve really improved a lot and I am probably one of the ones who have improved the most.

Here’s a picture of me and my class at her house after the Iniciación ceremony for the Sigma Delta Pi honor society! Those little kids are another professor’s kids.

enyay

I’m really going to miss my Spanish class!

I don’t know what to do with myself now. Probably eat a lot of food, right? I’ve been having a lot of Chipotle and pizza lately.

Or maybe I should work on cleaning this:

room51513.

… Nah. I’m going to enjoy my freedom for now.

Here’s a list of some of the best things about this semester (no particular order):

  • Going to Atlanta to watch the basketball team win the national championship
  • Getting the outstanding sophomore in the communication department award
  • Eating dinner at my Spanish professor’s house with my class
  • Winning extra credit for our research poster
  • A cat named Georgie at the animal shelter
  • IPHONE
  • Getting prepared to go to London
  • Making new friends with people in my classes
  • Being addicted to the Jodi Arias trial (Guilty- first degree premeditated murder)
  • Going to St. Louis for a weekend with Caitlin
  • Not having any classes I hate
  • Not having calculus which is the ultimate class I hate

I’ll be home on Friday night, see you guys for Dirty Dancing on Saturday night! I’ll make some snakes. Oops I meant to say snacks, but it’s funny that I said snakes instead so I decided not to change it.

And t-minus six days until the Of Monsters and Men concert! That kind of snuck up on us, didn’t it? Hooray!

Cathy

P.S. Let’s come watch Andy Roddick play on the Springfield Lasers tennis team sometime this summer! I don’t really know anything about him but I know you guys do.

P.P.S. I’m still in shock it’s summer now. IT’S SUMMER RIGHT NOW. It feels like it was just last summer, right? I’m so excited for pie-worthy stories and sitting on the big rock at Bass Pro and being scared of creepy people and raccoons. Can we go camping on your property again, Kendyl? I wonder if Nick will be allowed this year.

P.P.P.S. How is it that we graduated from Chrisman 2 years ago? How is it that we just finished our SOPHOMORE YEAR OF COLLEGE?

Sunburn

29 Apr

Weather Report: The past few days have been marvelous. With a High pressure system moving slowly over the north central part of Colorado, clear skies and warm weather have been abundant. Unfortunately  after many days of sun, pink skin is bound to happen! Especially because of the altitude… However, Tuesday and Wednesday will be days to recover, rain/snow mix is headed my way just in time to be reminded that it is not summer quite yet.

Summer is so close. Just think, in two weeks, most of us will be considered juniors in college. When did we grow up? And how do we prevent it from happening?

But before we can think of summer, it’s time for Hell Week and then Finals. Starting Monday my finals begin. I have a 30 minute lesson plan to give. This is the longest lesson plan I’ve created and I’m so glad I have a partner to do it with me. Teaching in front of children isn’t scary really, but teaching in front of 25 college students who are supposed to act just as excited and involved as children is not quite as fun. But, once that is over, that is one class complete!

I am nowhere near ready for the summer to be here. I don’t have everything ironed out in my house situation yet, I still have a ton of Navs stuff to prepare for, I have three finals on Friday May 10th, I have to find a place for my things over the summer which I haven’t packed yet, I have graduation parties to attend, and I have friends moving away that I want to spend time with. To much to do with so little time. If I could spend these last two weeks doing anything I wanted I would be playing Rummy with Ryan and Tori, making grad gifts for all my senior friends, playing soccer and tennis with all my friends, and planning camp games in my spare time.

Well, instead of day dreaming, I’m going to night dream… It’s about time I get on a good sleeping schedule.

-Morgan

p.s. I would like to complain for a moment: the ac in my room insists on blowing hot air. I sweat more in my sleep than I do at the gym

p.p.s. I can’t wait to watch Dirty Dancing with you guys at Kendyl’s. We need to eat unhealthy things while this is happening…

Work Hard, Play Hard

14 Oct

Copper Mountain got more snow this week, this picture is of the village at the base of the mountain where I will be living, only 18 days until I move there.

I have been researching guide jobs for next summer and I found a company I like called Ace Adventure Resort located in West Virginia. They have a lot cool guide jobs like white water rafting guide, zipline guide, atv guide, rock climbing guide, kayaking guide, sup board guide, mountain bike guide and more. Also its all located in a very scenic area of the Appalachian Mountains, and it looks like there would be a lot of awesome stuff to do when I am not working all for free. The catch is if employed by them my choices for housing would be my own tent on an employee campground for free, or a very basic cabin with no electricity and I would live in one of these from may to october. Although living in a cabin for several months would be a cool experience and I would be able to save up a lot of money  I am not sure if I want to do it. Not having electricity means I would have to cook food over a campfire or a wood stove which would be a healthy alternative to all the microwaved food I currently eat, and I would probably even have to do laundry by hand seeing as no electricity means no washing machines. The resort looks like it would be a ridiculously awesome place to work at though, and who knows if I do decide to apply there and get hired mabey I can convince some friends to work there with me (Cough cough fellow chrisman2college bloggers). You can check them out at http://www.aceraft.com/

Besides working I am still spending a lot of time rehabbing my knee, I have been running every day for the last two weeks and doing various knee exercises designed to strengthen it. Hopefully it will be healed up soon before I start snowboarding here in a few weeks.

Next weekend I will not be posting, I am going down to Bentonville, Arkansas to camp, mountain bike, cliff jump, and eat at my favorite restaurant on earth http://www.hammontreesgourmet.com/.

Anybody see this episode of the office? I thought Megan might get a kick out of asian Jim.

46 Days Till Colorado!

15 Sep

I am counting down the days until I leave for Colorado on Nov 2. However I am not looking forward to driving 11 hours there all by myself. I am looking forward to snowboarding EVERYDAY for 5 1/2 months, hopefully I make it through the winter injury free. I am going to be living a dorm sized room with a random roommate, but I wont know who my roommate is until I meet him face to face hopefully he wont be weird. All and all this winter should be Legen wait for ittttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt Dairy.

I haven’t done anything special lately I have just been working a lot, last Friday and Saturday I worked all day open to close. I’m trying to make up for the money I lost when I had to take a month off work for my acl surgery so I asked for extra shifts. I find Independence to be pretty boring most the time especially since most the people I know are away at college, and for the time being I do miss being in college where I was never really bored. I went up to Northwest last week to visit friends, I ended up explaining several times why I wasn’t in school and I was amazed at how many people seemed to idle me and want to want to drop out like me or take a year off once they heard what my plans are for traveling and working the next few years. I’m not sure how great of an example I am for others though if I am making them want to drop out of college. Also I visited the crap house that my friends Jon, Cliff, and Josh are living in this year. It’s on the very edge of Maryville 20 minutes from campus, there are holes in some of the walls, the kitchen window has been replaced with cardboard, theirs graffiti on the living room wood floor, the roof leaks, and there is a hole in the upstairs bathroom floor big enough to fall through but they are paying super cheap rent and party houses like theirs will soon be get trashed anyways. Honestly I would probably be living with them this year in their crappy house had I stayed at Northwest.

I am already putting a lot of thought into what I want to do next summer and I decided I want to be an outdoors guide of some sort. I’m trying to decide between being a white water rafting guide, Zip line guide, mountain bike guide, kayaking guide, SUP board guide, backpacking guide, climbing course facilitator, or working at a marina in a national park somewhere. Beside deciding what kick ass summer job I want I also have to decide where I want to do it and my choices so far are Yellowstone national park, Colorado, Utah, Yosemite National Park, West Virginia, Maine, Minnesota, Michigan, Montana, California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, and Costa Rica. Honestly I have so many awesome job choices in so many awesome places that I have no idea how I am going to choose, but I have spent a lot of time on http://www.coolworks.com/ which is where I found my Ski Resort job.

Fact: Whenever I finally live in my own house I am going to spend a lot of time on the roof

the end

10 May

Hello all!

I write this from the comfort of my own couch while watching House Hunters International on TV. I woke up at 11:30 and it’s a great feeling indeed.

My last week was pretty good, I’d say. I don’t remember much about the weekend. Monday I picked up my final photo assignment and I found out I got a 91% in the class… WTF! I was pissed because I got an A on every assignment and didn’t understand how that equated to me getting an A- in the class… That was until I re-read the syllabus and apparently you lose 15 points every time you don’t come to class (Stupid, I always got my assignments done early, so why would I come to class another 3 times for 3 hours each when I had nothing to work on?!) but anyway after I realized that I had in fact “earned it”, I wasn’t mad anymore.

I got a 97% in Multimedia (video) class. I had a final paper due for Alpha Seminar about my first year of college. We turned it in on Tuesday and our final consisted of eating pizza and having to dance out the door when we left. I’ll paste the last paragraph of my paper here because I believe it’s relevant to my “first year of college is over” post.
“With that, I am feeling a lot more confident about my next year, assuming it really does arrive in mid-August as I finally suspect that it will. I’ve learned a lot this year – a moderate amount of academic skills, and an extreme amount of oh-shit-I’m-almost-an-adult skills. All in all, I have immensely enjoyed my first year of college and it was less agonizing than expected.”

Monday I didn’t have any finals so Caitlin and I went to this cute little crepe restaurant downtown for breakfast. I had a strawberry, banana, and Nutella crepe. Yum. I began packing, but I took pictures of my room first so I would always be able to remember how it was my freshman year. I’ll post them because I know Morgan is the only one who really saw it!

Tuesday I had my Spanish final which I didn’t study much for because I had an “I don’t care” attitude. YAY!

Wednesday, after 5 hours in the library on Tuesday night (which I mostly didn’t study but instead read “Full House Reviewed,”
(which I highly recommend if you are at all familiar with the show and want to laugh)) I had my computer science final. I think I did decently.

My mom came yesterday at 2:15 and I had to check out at 4:30. We took things to the car, and then walked over to a friend’s Summit apartment so I could show my mom the set up of where I’ll be living next year. Then we went to the on campus fast food place, and we got something to eat. Too bad I still had $115 Panther Bucks left… oops!

In all, I was feeling pretty sad to leave and it was such a weird feeling! I’ll miss living in Wallace Hall… at least until I think about the boys on the floor above me who apparently decided it was time to drag their furniture around the room every night at 2:00am…

My first and last days in Wallace Hall

Today I looked online and saw that I earned a B+ in Spanish but my teacher bumped my grade to an A-! I posted a twitter status about it saying “A- in Spanish, heck yeah!” until I saw that another girl in my Spanish class had posted “B in Spanish, so happy!” 27 minutes before me, so I thought that was in bad taste and deleted mine. At 3 today I went to UpDog and filled out my tax forms… I start Monday! Can’t wait 🙂

I hope to see you guys soon!

Holla

30 Apr

I have three days left in my freshman year of college. This is crazy.

Well this past week I thought would go by slow, but it flew by. Ropes helped a lot with that- especially because it was the last day of that class and I got to bring friends and show them how great of a belayer I am, ha.

I am ready to be done with school but I am no where near packed and ready to go…. Also, it really sucks being an out of state student. One reason is that I have to drive all the way across Kansas to get home. I am really not looking forward to that. Another reason is that all my new friends are already making summer plans together, then they look at me and are like “Oh, yeah, sorry Morgan… we’ll be thinking about you!”. Sucks. I am really going to miss them.

Finals week is today- I have two. One on Wednesday and one Thursday. I have no clue when you all have finals- except Derek- you’re already done. But for the 4 of you that are studying hard, May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor.

Well I  have cleaning and packing and avoiding studying to do so … See you SOON!

My paper chain for counting down the days until school ends is super short! YES! Oh I also am tan! woo! Not as tan as I want to be but it’s a great start to summer. The only reason I know that I am tan is because the little baby hairs on my head are all like so blonde they look white. Yay for the sun bleaching my hair!
I am talking about seriously nothing.
Wednesday afternoon my MCS teacher emailed me (and about half of my class) saying that I have an A in my class and that it is not required of me to return to class at all and I will still have an A. Super stoked. One less final and class I have to worry about for dead week and finals week.
I am super swamped though with my theatre project being moved up a week(!), my biology practical, geology practical, studying for bio final, buying tubs for packing, finding a place to store my things over the summer, and a few other things.
I don’t know what else to tell you.
Tomorrow my Bible study is getting all fancy and going to Old Chicago’s restaurant. I think that that place is not a fancy place so I’m excited. But also I really don’t know how I’m paying for this because my father informed me that I have less than $50 dollars in my bank account two weeks ago. That’s a scary feeling. Real scary. So I am really jealous of you all with jobs. I am looking at Hiboys for sure- Whitney said that they have already hired 3 new girls- so my dad got an application for me and will turn it in. haha. Oh and he always seems to go when the Mackey family is there and they own the place! I think that’s good. My second choice is Bass Pro and they have told me to call them for an interview once I am back in town.
Well I’m starving so I’m going to go beg for food and watch a movie while I avoid all of those homework-y tasks I should be handeling. meh
bye for now

real life honey badger right here

18 Apr

Hi everyone. Good news – school is almost out! Not as soon as it is for some certain lucky people named Derek and Morgan, but oh well!

Saturday I woke up and got very excited because Becky texted to say POTTERMORE was open! I have had this website set as my homepage for over 6 months, so you can imagine my frustration when THE INTERNET WAS DOWN BECAUSE OF THUNDERSTORMS. But never fear, I had Becky create me an account.

Then about an hour after waking up, I got a really bad migraine, complete with feeling nauseated… and it hadn’t gone away after about 3 and a half hours, two ibuprofen, and some Excedrin Migraine. My mom suggested that I go to the emergency room. So I called Kayla and luckily she was able to take me. I got there around 12:45pm. They put me in an awkward bed in the hallway, and apparently they wanted to do a CT scan on me and my mom was like “no, tell them not to, that’s unnecessary.” Eventually they gave me an IV with Benadryl because apparently that helps, but first they ruptured a vein in one of my arms which caused me to freak tf out. I finally got to leave around 5:30, and with my appetite fully restored, I took Kayla to Panera for dinner since she helped me out so much by taking me to the hospital. That night I went to her hometown, Republic, with her to help take some things home.

When I got home, POTTERMORE was ready for me! I got sorted into HUFFLEPUFF!!! I’m really excited, because Hufflepuffs are particularly good finders, and what the HELL is a Hufflepuff? Those two famous quotes are from A Very Potter Musical, which I still haven’t seen but I feel like I can use these jokes regardless. Also, HONEY BADGER DON’T GIVE A SHIT so guess what? I already knew that about myself.

Sunday morning I woke up with a headache again, which mostly had gone away by 3pm. I really don’t know what I did Sunday.

Monday I woke up at… 9:13! Class starts at… 9:00! It was the only time I have overslept like that all year! I made it to class by 9:20. My Spanish teacher told me “Buenas noches” when I arrived. Jerk. Also, I got my 8 page research paper back from Alpha and I got an A+ !

A lot of my classes are cancelled this week. One was cancelled Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, AKA every day that we have class (and next week too), one was cancelled Thursday, and another is cancelled Friday. AKA even the teachers want to go home for the summer.

Oh and for one class I have to job shadow a minimum of 6 hours, so I went to the career center and they set me up with a 2010 Drury grad who is manager of communications at a community hospital in the area, so I think that will be pretty cool. I’ll do that Friday and Wednesday.

I registered for classes and got into everything I wanted/was necessary. Spanish, “Fit for Life,” Calculus I, Sociology, and Global Futures.

Got my computer science test back, got a 46%, and the way I look at it, I’m happy it was higher than my previous all-time awesome score of 39%. That is what you call success.

not caring about school anymore because there is only 1 month left

11 Apr

Today is the first day in a while where I don’t know what to write about, but I will try to think of something.

I always do. Thursday at 3 I left to go home for Easter, which was cool. Friday morning I had an interview for a summer job at UpDog; it was super chill and the guy who interviewed me didn’t write my answers down or anything, we just had a conversation. I think I’ll get the job.

Friday I also found out I did get selected out of like 60 people to be an ambassador, I think I wrote about that in my last post but I pretty much knew I’d get it. Friday I went to church at 3 and we dyed Easter eggs that night. I had a video assignment due Tuesday, which I had not started on, hence I had to film at home. I used my dad’s video camera, but alas, I FORGOT MY FREAKING TRIPOD HEFOWAFNMKS;NVSDZK;NVD. What a pain in the ass. I had to conduct interviews by sitting my family down at the kitchen table and putting the camera on a peanut butter jar in order to achieve proper framing.

Saturday I did my photography assignment at Carrie’s soccer game, and that was fun because I hadn’t been to one of her games since last season (fall). Moritz told her to score a goal for him before the game (she never scores goals) and lo and behold… she did! I also made mini Easter cheesecakes that I found on pinterest, and they had devil coconut on it. But I don’t mind coconut. Then we went from church from 8-10pm, and I’m almost 100% sure that I was the last one to blow out my candle when they told us to. (I kept letting mine stay lit for like 5 extra minutes.)

Sunday was Easter, Carrie woke me up too early at 8:00 am, and I went downstairs to my awesome Easter basket, including about 30,000 calories worth of chocolate. I still have this weird thing going on where I never have much of an appetite, so I didn’t eat a lot of it yet, and I left it at home when I came back to school. Who IS this person that I’m turning into?! My dad had been saying that there would be no “Amazing Race/Easter Egg Hunt” this year (Morgan, you can understand what I’m talking about) but we ended up having one anyway, he tricked us 🙂 It was a little shorter though, but it was still a lot of fun, and included but was not limited to: filling a sock up with lima beans in a relay race, sitting on a bench in a small cemetery, going to an arcade, giving cookies to firemen, and “destroying the Horcruxes” by using a slingshot to shoot marbles at 6 plates with pictures of Voldemort, Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, Professor Umbridge, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Dementors taped to them. I broke Voldemort.

Sunday night I decided I didn’t feel like driving back to school, so I played hooky on Monday! (My first time for these classes, but they are MWF at 9, 10, and 11 so I couldn’t really get back in time in the morning.) I did my Spanish homework that was due and emailed it to him. I woke up around 8:30 and left at 10:30. Got back at 1:30, skyped briefly (because Moritz is in Spain Tuesday-Thursday), and then proceeded to the Mac Lab to work on my video project.

What I was not anticipating was the fact that I had to transfer 20+ video clips to the Mac computer via MY 8GIG MEMORY CARD. That was annoying. I had to do it because a portable hard drive can’t be compatible with a mac and pc simultaneously. THEN I had to convert all the files to be able to be seen on Final Cut Pro, THEN they didn’t have sound so I had to convert them again. This took about 2 hours. By the time the video was done, I had spent a total of SEVEN CONSECUTIVE HOURS on this dang assignment. However, time went fast due to the high level of fun I was having.

(hope you guys can see it)

Tonight we’re having an event called Sex on Campus, where the human sexuality teacher answers people’s anonymous questions. I signed up to “chalk” for the event, meaning write information on the ground outside around campus. I incidentally made a trail of sperm that lead to the building in which the event is held. Clever, I know.

I’m tired of typing, you’re probably tired of reading, see you on the flip side.
