Interview Woes.

8 Feb

Sorry for the late update! But the end of this week was kind of a busy one, even with the 2 snow days we got!

Yes lots of snow. And I had a lot of homework that had to be done.

Wednesday night Tristian and Jordan picked us up and we went out to celebrate Kendyl’s birthday. After failed attempts to find a place that was open and would let T and Jordan in, we finally decided to go to El Rancho where Kendyl was able to purchase her first legal Margarita. After that we went to Taco Bell. Haha.

Thursday I worked. After getting off rather late, I had a million things to do, like do laundry, pack to go home, practice what I was going to say in my nursing interview the next day, and sleep.

Friday morning, I woke up kind of later than I wanted to even after I set an alarm. After getting ready, I left the apartment with about 30 minutes until my interview thinking that’s more than sufficient. Little did I know that the Hernes bus was going to be late. With 15 minutes left until my interview I knew I was going to have to run to get to the nursing building on time. Did I mention that it felt like -10 degrees plus it was a little bit windy? Anyway I got to the nursing building with 5 minutes until my time, my nose was running, my face was frozen, and I was wheezing like nobody’s business. And the interviews were running about 5 minutes behind. Lovely.

The interview itself was pretty good I think. The interviewers were super nice, again. And I hope I answered the questions appropriately. I always think it’s going to be a lot worse than it actually is. Anyway, I have to wait another 2ish weeks before I will know. I hope I get in. So badly.

Okay well must get back to that homework now.

Peace out, girl scouts.

Snow Day!

9 Apr

Sorry, I’m a day late and probably a dollar short.. But I had to share with you some exciting news!
I have a snow day today!! Dance Party!! Just kidding, that would be weird since it’s just me and I don’t like to dance anyhow…. But really.
Oh man, the only thing that would make this day better would be to go back in time and get the email that it’s a snow day BEFORE I had my 9:30 class this morning… blah. So I am already awake and stuff, but now I get to experience the whole day as a snow day so that’s alright.

Also, I’ve been watching a lot of video blogs online, and they look super fun. All the ones I have seen are of kids my age from England talking about their lives, so they are extra fun because of their accents. I think it would be fun to do one sometime… only problem(s): I don’t like the sound of my voice when it gets recorded, I would have to clean my room, and my jokes would have to be funny in real life. BUT I could practice my impressions! I think I do a good one of Emo-flirty-girl. It’s quite funny

That’s all I suppose…..
Well, actually, I’ve been looking for senior gifts, for the seniors I have come to know this year at college. And man, it’s like Senior year all over again but a little worse this time. These people aren’t people whose parents will still live 5 minutes from me so we are bound to run into each other, these friends are moving towns like for real and becoming teachers and nutritionists and one is moving to North Carolina (which is my dream state to live in). So there is no chance I will see some of them again. So sad. So, buying them things to remember our short lived friendship is hard.

…. bit it’s a SNOW DAY so I can be happy for today…!!

p.s. I hope all you Missourians are enjoying the sun and 70’s today

p.p.s. this is my third snow day of college, and my school, before 2011, had not had a snow day in 25 years! I feel so lucky. Only it’s April and I want showers and not blizzards,…..

A Whole Lot of Crazy

27 Feb

Hey guys. It’s been a crazy week and a half, and I’ve got one more crazy week and a half until I’m in the clear. And then it’s one week until spring break. Say what?! That’s also crazy!

I can’t remember another time in college so far when I’ve been so busy.

My weekly schedule*:

Sunday: Work 10-3
Monday: Class until 3, work from 5:30-10
Tuesday: Class until 2, work from 3:00-7:30, watch Dance Moms from 8-9
Wednesday: Class until 3, Skype from 3:30-5:30, dinner from 5:30-6, Authentic Bible study from 9-10:30
Thursday: Class until 2, work from 5:30-10
Friday: Class until 3, sometimes class from 4:45-7, sometimes work from 5:30-10
Saturday: Volunteer from 10-12, sometimes work from 3-8

*All other times not accounted for = homework, showering, or sleeping**
** mostly homework

I have to admit though that I’m pretty proud of how I’ve been handling myself. I’m getting my shit together and really using my time wisely. And I am immensely lucky that I can work on homework at work, I seriously have the best type of job that a college student could ask for.

The only other thing I’ve been doing is watching the Jodi Arias trial when I can. It’s kind of weird how I got interested, but the café on campus kept showing it on the TVs on HLN (aka the Nancy Grace channel) for the past month, and I saw parts of it here and there.  Then on my ice-day (not snow day) on Thursday, I watched the first day of cross-examination. I’d say this case is similar in salience (a word I just learned while working on my 15-20 page research paper) to the Casey Anthony case, but not quite as big. (Going along with the theme of things that are crazy, I think Jodi Arias is crazy.)

And I have an announcement, for those of you who haven’t seen already: I finally declared my majors! Hip hip hooray!

21 Feb

First, I’d just like to extend a HAPPY SNOW DAY to all who were trapped inside while like 5498 feet of snow accumulated outside. It was a interesting storm.

I woke up super early today because I think I was just paranoid it was going to be really bad outside and I wanted to be sure I had enough time. But actually nothing was really happening weather wise. Around 9ish, the snow really started to get nasty, which included thunder/lightning snow. And since my first class was supposed to start at 11, I was planning on leaving pretty early given the circumstances. Anyway, as most of you know, I don’t particularly like to skip class unless it’s absolutely necessary. This was one of those times. The rest of the morning I watched the Today Show (my guilty pleasure), and Anderson Live. Then the stupid university decided that at 12 o’clock, at the peak of the storm, that they should probably cancel classes and close the university. Probably because a lot of the main roads were just parking lots. But that’s a rant for another day. The point is, I didn’t have to be on campus until 6:30 today. PTL.

Anyway me and Kens were pretty hungry so we decided to walk up to Taco Bell since it was probably not a good idea to drive because most of the roads were still un-plowed and my car was/still is under like a foot of snow. It was was a pretty good snow-venture. Except we almost got run over by a car and it was pretty windy so snow flakes pelted at our faces. Ouch.

Our 2nd snow-venture happened around 6. Kendyl was getting REAL stir-crazy. So we decided to go build a snowman outside. Snowman plan failed since the snow wasn’t really the greatest for snowman-making. Then we decided to walk to HyVee so Kens could buy a juice box for less than .90 cents (that was all she had). They didn’t have individual juice boxes for sale but luckily they had 2-liter Dr. Peppers on sale for .77 cents!

Also they just announced that all classes are canceled tomorrow. WHAT UP!! Oh and Of Monsters and Men tickets came in today!! 89 days left until the concert!

Last Friday, there was a weinermobile sighting on campus. So me and GBabs and Kens took a little adventure in search of it . When we got to campus it was gone. But we took some cliche pictures with the Columns on the Quad to make up for it. Then when were about to turn on to our street… WE SAW THE WEINERMOBILE turning the other direction!!! I might or might have not made an illegal U-Turn, but we followed it to the hotel we think they were staying at. And while the drivers went inside to check in, we took some pictures with the weinermobile. Not going to lie, it was pretty awesome.

Today I stumbled upon this video from the Today Show. Not going to lie, I cried a little bit from laughing so hard. Two of the many British things I love!

“The way you do your hair gets me flabbergasted.” BAHAHAHA.

PS. Nick is alive.  You may be lead to believe otherwise since he hasn’t blogged in about 3 months. I saw him with my own eyes the other day. lol.
