My name is Cathy, and I’m a junior at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. I’m majoring in Advertising/Public Relations and Spanish. For as long as it took for me to decide what I actually wanted to study, I’m really excited that I finally figured it out. If anyone wants to read a research paper on the Media Framing of the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting or know about the visual and print culture of Spain under the Francisco Franco dictatorship, 1936-1975, hit me up. So I kind of love school, I have to admit. (Pound it, Kendyl.)
For the fall 2013 semester, I am actually at Regent’s University in London, England. Traveling is something I’m passionate about; I have been to 47 of the lower 48 states with my family by car (all except North Dakota) and I definitely plan on going to Hawaii and Alaska someday (not by car, probably). Since graduation from high school, I’ve been to Germany four times to visit my boyfriend who lives there. Due to this, I’ve had the opportunity to travel to cities such as Paris, Berlin, and Venice, along with other less well-known places. This semester, I really planned on traveling as much as I could, and I went to five new countries: Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic (all of which were beautiful). I’m so fortunate to have had these experiences! Megan, Derek, and Kendyl are visiting me over Thanksgiving break and I can’t wait to see them! I have another blog that is specifically about my time in London: http://cathyinlondon2013.wordpress.com
I have the best family and friends anyone could ever ask for, I’m a particularly good Internet creep/”detective”, and I finally got an iPhone in March. I have really curly hair that I haven’t straightened in five years, I worked at IHOP as a waitress this past summer which was actually more fun than it sounds, and I never have to take another math class in my life. Have I mentioned I’m in London? Life is pretty good for me right now. Holla.
