Don’t Cry Over Spilt Tiramisu.

12 Nov

“Don’t cry over spilt milk” doesn’t make sense to me because I don’t drink milk, but “don’t cry over spilt tiramisu” does because I have cried over spilt tiramisu. I’m not necessarily proud of it, but I’m definitely not ashamed. I spent 3 hours beautifully crafty this tiramisu, I even made the pound cake form scratch, and when I was dusting the top with cocoa powder I spilt almost all of it in the sink. So yes I cried, but I think the real moral of this story is that its ok to cry over something that you spent a lot of time on/tried really hard on/cared a great deal about that didn’t go your way, however the key is to not keep on crying. So I guess what I’m really trying to say is don’t cry more than once over spilt tiramisu. I just think this is a good analogy for life.

I would like it to be known that this is the third week in a row I have blogged. SHOCKING, I KNOW.

This weekend we went up to the farm to visit my Grandma and Uncle. We got there Friday evening and had dinner. While eating I dropped food on myself (surprise surprise) and was subsequently asked if I was dating anyone… Clearly No. Lol.

Saturday I woke up pretty early (for a Saturday at least) and went outside and walked around. My mom was putting some rocks in a flowerbed so I helped a little with that, road the four-wheeler, harassed the cows, played with the BB kitties, and took some pictures. After lunch I took a substantial nap during the Mizzou game, which they won! When I woke up I went outside and did some more of the previous stated activities and after dinner we drove back home.

Sunday I slept in (hooray!) and went with Gentry to run a few errands. We ended up going to Target twice, the mall, and Taco Bell. I mainly got mini-shampoos and things for LONDON 2013 (#10days). We then went to my Grandma’s house for Sunday night dinner.

10 Library shifts, 5 tests, 5 quizzes, 2 Lab reports, and 1 paper until the end of the semester!

P.S. This post is extremely random… just like my thought process.

P.P.S. Here’s a thing I found on Buzzfeed that I liked… I’m getting good at the whole angst-y 20 year old thing.

Hot Commodities.

5 Nov

I signed up for my classes yesterday and my schedule doesn’t seem too bad. I won’t have classes on Friday and very minimal classes Monday-Thursday because I’m taking all of my health science classes (7 credits) online.

Friday I drove home with Tristan so I could play in my last two indoor soccer games and Tristan even played (lol). Then after the games Megan and Derek came over and we ate pizza and Megan finished learning how to ride her bike! It was pretty cold so we got blankets and watched Megan conquer the art of bike riding under the stars (which might I add were really bright that evening).

Saturday I slept in because it was the first Saturday in forever that I wasn’t working! Then my mom took me to the post office to get international stamps because like I said in an earlier post stamps are a hot commodity. After that we picked up Tristan from home and took him to get a shot at CVS so he doesn’t get dirty dorm room diseases. After that we went to visit my Grandma since I wasn’t going to be able to go to her house for Sunday dinner. At about 3 we headed back to Columbia so we could go to the Mizzou Football game because Tristan had gotten me a ticket from his friend Jordan. We sat on a blacket in the grassy section behind the endzone and they won 31-3 Yiphee!

Sunday was relaxation/cleaning/homework/Chiefs are 9-0 day!!!

This weekend we are planning on going up to the farm because I won’t be able to over Thanksgiving break. I’ll be sure to take some photos of some quality Laughlin Angus cows for you guys.

P.S. I graduate in a little over a year and a month… SCARY.

P.P.S. I’m not even old enough to drink a fucking beer (lol Tristan #wombies)

P.P.P.S. Three hour saga 🙂

Sophisticating my Palate.

30 Oct

I am currently eating my favorite chocolate cake ice cream, drinking coke zero and watching Gilmore Girls. Today was my day off so I studied quite a bit, but I still feel like I didn’t get very much done. I have two tests next week so I have some work to do!

Sunday was my last day working at Lake Jacomo Marina… probably ever. It was a little bittersweet because while sometimes I hated it most of the time it was actually pretty alright and working with Megan and Derek for two summers was pretty cool 🙂

This Friday I worked from 12-5pm and had an indoor soccer game which we lost 13-0. After that I went over to the house Gentry and I were dog/house sitting at (Bailey’s house btw that’s the dogs name). I have a real talent for making myself at home at other peoples houses. Then Saturday I worked from 9-5pm and that night we went over to Meguan’s house to plan for our London trip and watched SNL because that is now a 5-week tradition. It seems the only thing we have actually accomplished is booking a hostel in London. Then Sunday I worked from 7-3pm and at 5pm I went over to my Grandma’s house. I like Sunday evenings because my whole family gets together and we have dinner at my Grandma’s house. This week I ate brussel sprouts in an attempt to sophisticate my palate haha.

This weekend I plan on coming home Friday to play in two indoor soccer games and then drive back Saturday so I can go to the Mizzou football game!

P.S. It was a real struggle making myself write this post due to my laziness.

P.P.S. The Olympic countdown is also my birthday countdown! Yay! 100 days!

8 Oct

This week is the first week that actually feels like fall, so thus began my annual watching of all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls. It’s just something about fall that makes me want to watch Gilmore Girls, maybe it’s that the show is supposed to take place in Connecticut and that it always seems to be fall or winter during the show.

Here is a thing on Buzzfeed about Gilmore Girls you should look at… sorry I am obsessed. I have a lot of favorite TV shows, but Gilmore Girls is my all time favorite TV series.

I guess I haven’t blogged in a while… oops. I have a hard time making myself bog because it feels a bit like an assignment for school and I really don’t need any more of those. I have a physiology test tomorrow morning and a Medical terminology test on Thursday so I really need to be spending time working on those. Also I have a 15 minute presentation on Monday that my group hasn’t even started yet. Group work is seriously the WORST. I mean we are all juniors and seniors with insanely busy schedules and jobs… how the hell are we supposed to find a time when all 5 of us can meet.

A couple weeks ago I filled out my paperwork basically telling the university that I will be ready to graduate in December 2014. This really has me thinking about what I will do after graduation and I am lost. It’s not that I lack ambition; it’s just that I don’t know how or where to direct my ambition. If I thought that physical therapy was undoubtedly the career path for me I would gladly spend three years accomplishing that goal, but with my uncertainty three years is a lot to potentially waste. So, maybe I’ll take some time after graduation and try some new things, see some new places, and try to figure out if that’s what I want to do. I have a map on my wall and there all too many places I have not seen and my goal is to change that one country at a time. I’m learning that a career is not what makes you, it’s the experiences that you have accumulated that shape you as a person.

Even though I am constantly busy, stressed most of the time, and have no clue what I want to do with my life I am actually very content with where I am at right now.

Keep it Classy.

P.S. Guys it’s almost time for sweaters YAY!

P.P.S. I have decided that I hate all of my clothes and will be wearing leggings and t-shirts for the rest of my life… Ok not my whole life… this is probably just a phase.

P.P.P.S. I got 4 new bottles of OPI nail polish so I’m also pretty excited about that.

Rest in Pieces Venus Flytrap.

17 Sep

The last couple weeks have gone by incredibly fast, probably due to the fact that I have Zero free time.

My weekly schedule looks something like this:

Monday:

8:00-8:50 Physiology (when I choose to get out of bed)

9:00-9:50 Math (where I spend 50 minutes trying to figure out what the hell my teacher is saying)

11:00-3:00 Work in the library (shelvin’ books makin’ paper)

3:30-4:45 Health Science 4300 (where I use every ounce of energy I have to try and stay awake, but usually fail)

Then I get home and due homework until I go to sleep.

Tuesday:

Tuesday is Mecca. Except for the fact that Tuesday has become do a F ton of homework day. Either way I still get to sleep in 😉

Wednesday: The same as Monday.

Thursday:

8:30-11:30 Physiology lab (where we do the lab in 5 minutes, but spend 2 hours deciphering what the background information means)

12:00-2:00 Work in the library

Then go home and do homework.

Friday:

8:00-8:50 Physiology

9:00-9:50 Math

Then right after drive to blue springs.

12:00-6:00 Work at the marina

I also work 8 hours on Saturday and Sunday, but at least I have a little free time. Even though it makes my life crazy, I really like going home on the weekends because I get to spend time with mi familia. On Sundays we always go over to my Grandma’s house with my aunts, uncles, and cousins and eat dinner, which is nice. This week we found six kittens living under the ramp in her front yard (brb dying because of the cuteness).

The other day I had a dream that I was bald on half of my head and some of my friends from Jewell were in it. I had remembered from the movie The Giant Mechanical Man (which is really good) that Jenna Fischer’s character had dreams about losing her teeth so I figured those probably had similar meanings. Anyway, basically what my dream is telling me is that I don’t have any idea of what I’m doing with my life, which is pretty accurate.

I think Derek and I have had very similar thought processes when thinking about what we want to do with our lives, except mine involve less action sports and more cupcakes. Right now I am considering becoming an Au Pair after I graduate, but I seem to change my mind every 3 days, so we’ll see if this actually sticks.

Keep it Classy.

P.S. Sorry for this insanely boring post.

P.P.S. My Venus flytrap is almost completely dead and I don’t understand because I water it all the time. I am very distraught about this.

P.P.P.S. I have been listening to a lot of San Cisco lately and I really like the song Wetsuit by the Vaccines. You should check them out.

Tuesday is Mecca.

27 Aug

Tuesday is the only day of the week where I have no class, no work, and no obligations (well besides homework of course). So today I woke up listened to music, did an assignment, made chicken parmesan and pasta for lunch, watched a movie on Netflix, watered my Venus flytrap and cacti garden, went to Joann’s to get corkboard, went to Hy-Vee, went on a mission with Megan to find a Hammer to Wal-Mart, Dollar tree and the thrift store, bought a pair of rain boots for 6 dollars at said thrift store, ended up using a frying pan to hammer the nail into the wall, cleaned my room, and blogged. I LOVE Tuesday!!

Last week I worked 44 hours, which is more than I worked per week this summer. I worked 10 hours in the library and 34 hours at the marina. Megan and I might be a little bit insane for willingly working from 7am to 8pm both Saturday and Sunday, but $$$ is $$$.

This semester I am taking 14 credit hours and while that doesn’t seem like a lot, this will probably be my most difficult semester to date. I am taking Math 1100 (shout out to Megan and Cathy for saving my butt and helping me stay in the class), Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Health Science 4300 (a class solely about the Health care system in the US). The only class I currently hate is math because (1) we have homework due 3 days a week, (2) my teacher has a very thick accent and I have yet to see her smile, and (3) frankly I just hate math.

I am going to be graduating with my Health Sciences degree next fall and I still don’t know what I want to do after that. It’s up in the air whether I will apply for the physical therapy program. I have been seriously contemplating the idea of enrolling in the pastry/baking program at Johnson County Community College and taking some business classes in order to pursue my dream of opening a bakery. I feel like I am meant to be doing something that involves creativity where I get to call the shots and make decisions. It is really scary because I could choose a field where I would have great financial stability or I could choose to pursue something where there is a very high risk of failure. It really has me thinking.

Here are some pictures of my room:

30 Apr

I don’t feel like writing or thinking, but I haven’t blogged in a while, so here it goes.

Lately I have been extremely busy. I have been working 12 hours at the library every week and then between 24 and 28 at the marina. The only day I have off from work are Wednesdays so I try to get all of my schoolwork done then. In the past 2 days I have only been to 1 out of 4 classes… oops.

I finished training at the library last week (which means shelving books in every area of the library) so now I get to listen to music while I shelve… It’s the little things. 🙂

Yesterday I drove my car up to Hearnes and then road the bus to work. After work when I get back to Hearnes I realize that I no longer had my car keys (which included my only two car keys, drivers license, both my debit cards, my MU id, and my work card). I had to get Megan to come get me and she took me to check in the library. Then we went to the MU police to see if anyone turned them in. MU police gave me the number for the main bus station, but they were closed for the evening so I had to wait and call back in the morning. In the meantime I had to cancel both of my debit cards, so no one could steal all of the money I just got paid last week. This morning I called the main station and got referred to the MU transportation office and I gave them a description of my keys. Then I road up to school for my class and asked the bus driver if she had anyone turn in a set of keys, but her radio wasn’t working so, she sent me to the bus across the street. When I started to ask this bus driver I barely got anything out before she pointed to my keys hanging on her rearview mirror. I can not tell you how happy I was to see them. Needless to say this was a very stressful, unneeded experience.

Also this video is Hilarious… and slightly explicit.

P.S. I just bought a hammock off of the Clymb… pretty stoaked about that.

P.P.S. I’m going to buy Dirty Dancing off of Amazon next. Can’t wait to see you all!

P.P.P.S. We need to go to a Royals game because they are actually pretty good this year!!

Librarian 4 Life.

2 Apr

Everything is right in the world because I am once again working in a library. Today was my first day and I went through a computer program that refreshed me on shelving (MU uses library of congress, but at Jewell they used Dewey Decimal) and I put 3 carts of books in order. The 4 hours actually went by pretty quickly and I think I’m going to like this job.

Friday Meiguan and I road tripped to St. Louis to visit one of our friends from Jewell Mary Ann. When we got there she was in an interview, so we killed time by going to target and trying White Castle for the first time. Those tiny burgers were pretty disturbing and I am confident in saying I won’t be eating there again. Then we met her at her house and headed out for St. Louisian adventures. First, we went to a pretzel place called Gus’s Pretzels. They were cheap and delicious and I really wish we had one here. Next we went to the Zoo because its free and we got to see penguins, giraffes, elephants, and various baby animals (How did they get so tiny!?!). After that we went to visit the good ole’ arch and took lots of various arch pictures. Let me just tell you that I am the master of self timer… even if it means having to use a trash can and getting my face dangerously close to garbage. We finished the day by going to an ice cream place called Ted Drewes. I got a pineapple sundae, which was delicious, and then we drove 4 hours back to Indep.

IMG_0041

Saturday my uncle got us free tickets to the Sporting KC game so me, Gentry, Kellan, and my cousin went to that. Watching it really made me miss playing soccer! After the game we went to my aunt and uncles house and chilled in their hot tub for a while and me and Gentry stayed in their guest house.

Sunday was Easter and we had lunch at my Grandma’s house. I love all holidays because of the copious amounts of delicious food I get to consume. We had ham, smoked turkey, rolls, vegies, cheesecakes, and strawberry pie (there was more, but that’s just what I ate lol). I especially like Easter because I get to hide the eggs for Max and Sam’s Easter egg hunt. This year I put one in a rose bush and after Sam grabbed it he got really upset and started ranting about who would put an Egg in a bush with thorns and how he really hurt himself. It was hilarious.

I have a Biology test Wednesday night at 8:00pm and a Chemistry test Thursday morning at 8:00am, so that pretty much sucks. I really need to get to studying!

I honestly don’t have much to blog about and have no desire to think of something interesting so here is a picture of my nails I just painted.

photo

Last week I got three inches cut off my hair and it was honestly devastating. Also, I am trying to grow my bangs out so that’s no fun. Word of advice, never get bangs unless you plan on keeping them for the rest of your life because they are a real pain in the ass to grow out.

That’s honestly all I got.

A bad word that starts with an “F”.

5 Mar

The past 36 hours have not been the finest 36 hours to say the least. I just have to laugh because otherwise I might end up crying. I try to keep reminding myself that things could get worse, but every time I think this the world is like “Challenge Accepted”, so I think I might just stay in the house for an indefinite amount of time.

This all start Sunday night. I went home this weekend, so I drove back to Columbia and got home around 10pm. I had a few things to do for my online class and I had to finish my still life for art (let me tell you, there is nothing more boring to draw then a bunch of apples and grapes).  I ended up staying up until 2:30 finishing it and had to wake up at 6:30 to go to class. When I got to class I saw everyone’s drawings were not even close to being done. Come to find out it isn’t actually due until next Monday, so I was walking around like a zombie for no reason, but on the plus side my teacher said I didn’t have to come to class on Wednesday.

Then I got to my Biology lab and my usual lab partner wasn’t there so I worked with the two guys who sit across from us (We usually split up the work between us anyway in order to get done quicker).  The lab involved hissing cockroaches (GROSS) so I am glad they dealt with putting it in the jar and stuff. About 70% of the labs we do in that class don’t work out the way they are supposed to, so we just bullshit the crap out of them.  This wasn’t that bad except for the COCKROACHES of course.

Then last night I went to the rec center and parked in the parking garage because I couldn’t find any other parking spots. After I was done working out I walked back to my car and found a minivan parked literally 6 inches away from my car on the drivers side. I managed to maneuver my way into my car and immediately locked my doors because there was a creepy guy sitting in the passenger seat of said minivan, but no driver (sketch). Then I put my key in and tried to start it, but nothing happened. It didn’t even make any noise to suggest that it was trying to start. I try starting it like 5 more times and at this point I’m freaking out because the first thing that comes to my mind is that I am the target of some murder plot (that the people from the minivan next to me did something to my car and when I got out to try to fix it they would come kidnap and murder me.) Jokes on them because I don’t know anything about cars… that’s why I have triple A. So, I call my mom… no answer, I call Kellan… straight to voicemail. I proceed to call my mom 10 times before finally calling and getting ahold of Gentry. I don’t have my triple A card with me so my mom called them and worked it out for me. I didn’t want to wait in the car so I maneuvered my way out, pepper spray in hand, and walked back to wait in the rec center. About 45 minutes later the tow truck guys got there and hooked there little cords up to my car, but nothing worked. Then all of a sudden he told me to let down my e-brake and just started pushing my car out of the spot while I was in it. I couldn’t help, but laugh. Then he got in and started it going down the hill of the parking garage. Then I shook his hand and was on my way. When I got home and turned my car off it wouldn’t start again so I am currently car-less.

Then this morning I woke up at 8:50am because I didn’t put my phone on the charger and it died in the middle of the night. I have class at 8 and 9, but it takes me like 30 minutes to get there because I have to ride the bus, so I missed those 2 classes. Then I go up to school for my 11am class and parked in what I believed to be a parking spot… It wasn’t. I got back to the car and find an orange slip under the windshield wiper. I got a $30 dollar ticket.

A bad word that starts with an “F” ran through my mind a lot of times the past 36 hours.

Keep it Classy.

J-Law.

26 Feb

Well the last week has been filled with many snow-ventures, but I won’t blog about those because Meiguan already has!

This weekend my family came up because my grandma was getting an award from the National Angus Association and it was held at a hotel here in Columbia. We had to dress up for that, but I wasn’t complaining because I always like an excuse to wear a dress. We were joking before hand about what they were going to serve to eat because obviously they were going to serve Angus beef. The meal consisted of rolls, salad, green beans, potatoes, and beef tenderloin (oh boy do I love beef). During one part of the thing they were auctioning off something (it’s still a mystery to me) and the guy doing it was a totally legit auctioneer and then there were other guys around making cattle herding noises. You really had to be there to have a full understanding of how confusing and funny this was. After a lot of other (boring) stuff my grandma got her award and all of us had to go up on stage with her so that was awkward, but all in all it was pretty nice.

Sunday night I watched the entire Oscars even the red carpet stuff beforehand for two main reasons: 1. I love looking at all the dresses and 2. Jennifer Lawerence (do I need to say anymore!?) I have a really bad lady crush on J-Law like almost everyone else; Monday I spent the day watching videos of her at the awards. If you haven’t seen them already you have to watch these videos:

Last night was the Passion Pit, Matt and Kim, and Icona Pop concert and it was really good! Icona Pop wasn’t very good live, but that’s not who we really bought the tickets to see, so that was fine! Matt and Kim were very entertaining and I lost count on how many times they dropped the F bomb. Passion Pit was also amazing and actually better live than I was expecting!

Thats all for now.

P.S. Shout out to Tristan for deciding to go to Mizzou next year!!

P.P.S. Miss you guys!

#sorrynotsorry

12 Feb

I haven’t blogged in a while… #sorrynotsorry. Lately… well mainly only to my sister I have been talking in hash tags. I say something and then I say “hash tag sad tweet”. Also, I don’t know if you know the song G# by Kitten, but for the longest time I thought it was pronounced G hash tag because I had no clue that in music # meant sharp. That is a great indicator of my lack of musical training.

School is finally catching up with me. I didn’t do any work the first two weeks of school and on Thursday I have two tests (chemistry and Political Science) which I haven’t studied at all for… so I guess that’s what I’ll be doing the next couple of days.

I would like to take this time to express to you all how much I hate discussion boards. For my Health Sciences 3300 class we have to post an answer to a question every week and then respond to other people’s posts. I have come to the conclusion that the only way to get a good grade is to sound like a pompous ass, so that’s what I’m doing. Also the TA responded to one of mine and my response sounded kind of bitchy #sorrynotsorry, I just hope that doesn’t affect my grade.

Currently my favorite classes are my Intro to Art and Political Science class. Basically for art we just draw, ect. ect. for 3 hours, 2 times a week and my teacher is a super hipster, art grad student (he listens to music that I have never heard of… Idk if anyone has ever heard of it).  I find it really weird that Political Science is my other favorite class because my previous hatred of this topic, but I’m actually starting to get more interested in politics and the teacher is really funny (he has the same stature as Mr. Stacy and always wears Hawaiian style shirts with road signs ect. ect. on them).

I’ve come to the realization that I am a lot healthier when I’m at school then when I’m home. Here I actually work out almost everyday and eat semi-healthy-ish (that mainly means that instead of eating the whole bag of chips I only eat half), but this is also probably because I’m poor and can’t afford snack foods unless my mom buys them for me. This weekend when I went home, I kid you not, I ate half of a Dairy Queen ice-cream cake #sorrynotsorry.

P.S. The other day I made another video blog, but I couldn’t post it #sadtweet.

11 Dec

I figured I would continue Morgan’s theme of just title-ing (titling?? lol) the post by the day of the week, mainly because I can’t think of a fun title. I hope everyone else continues this for the rest of the week (that means you Cathy, Megan, Derek) lol jk

I finished my last final today, thank goodness and hopefully I did alright on it because it was bit more difficult than what I was expecting.

I have a huge to do list tomorrow to get everything ready before I leave on Thursday morning. Is this real life??

I did about a 1/4th of the insanity workout Tristan was doing tonight and I about died; I guess I can only improve from that.

P.S. I apologize for this terribly borring post.

Just call me chef Kendyl.

4 Dec

This week I decided to learn to cook… well a little bit.

On Saturday I night I made Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and gravy (all from scratch). I found the recipe here and after 2 ½ hours and 5 phone calls to my mother I would say I was pretty successful.

IMG_0201

Then on Sunday I had nothing better to do so I found a recipe for shrimp scampi here so I made that and put it over pasta. I also baked some fresh green beans with the recipe I found here. This was much easier than the chicken fried steak because I just had to use the oven. When there is “pan-sizzling” (this is what I call cooking things on the stove) involved I freak out.

IMG_0208

Today I have been doing everything not to study I made mac and cheese when I wasn’t even hungry, made several cards and I practiced packing all the things I am going to bring to Finland. After my classes tomorrow I am going to head home for the long weekend and then come back for my finals on Monday and Tuesday. Then I leave for Finland on the 13th!

Lately.

27 Nov

Thanksgiving break was pretty great, but it was definitely too short. I spent Thanksgiving at my grandparents house and ate some really delicious food and what I like to call desserts of the world: apple pie, pumpkin pie, and blueberry cobbler (just kidding all those things are pretty American). Then on Friday we always have a chili dinner at one of my aunts or uncle’s house. We also had pulled pork sandwiches so I got my BBQ fix. Then Saturday we went up to my Grandma’s farm and had some more food.

One of the girls in my sorority from Jewell messaged me the other day and asked if I would be interested in walking in Kansas City Fashion Week for one of her designer friends. I was like why not? So, I told her sure. I don’t really know many details yet other than its March 3rd and I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to walk in heels, which makes me a wee bit nervous considering I don’t even own a pair of heels. (OK that’s a lie, I own one pair, but it’s like a 1-inch heel.

Lately I’ve been watching a lot of indie films on Netflix and some of them are actually pretty good. They have a sense of realness and awkwardness that some other films lack. Some of the ones I’ve liked so far are Life Happens (It has Krysten Ritter in it. Love her.), Like Crazy, and Take Me Home.

The townhome is gaining a dog on Thursday. Yesterday we went to the Columbia Humane Society to help Kellan pick out a dog because he feels the need to get one. Not going to lie it’s pretty cute and I’m kind of excited, but I do worry a little bit about how this is going to work out.

I’ve been doing pretty well with exercising and going to the Rec center while here at school, but I would like to start to eat healthier and learn to cook (to some extent). Maybe that will be one of my new year’s resolutions.

The semester is so close from being over. I can’t wait.

Keep it Classy.

P.S. If you’re looking for something new to listen to consider Lana Del Rey’s album paradise. (You may not like it, but I think its pretty great)

Life

13 Nov

A few things I’ve come to know about myself: (in no particular order)

  1. I love change because I get bored very easily. Where most people get nervous wondering about their future and the unknown, I get excitement. It’s intriguing to me that things can change at the drop of the hat. Trust me, I have been on the bad end of this and it can be heartbreaking and terrifying, but I truly believe I am a lot stronger because of all the shit I’ve been through.  This has also taught me to take chances and not to put things off. Life is too short to say you will do things later, there isn’t always a later.
  2. I am not cut out for working hourly jobs, I’m just not. I mean anywhere where a uniform is required just cramps my style, literally.
  3. I want to be employed for the least amount of time possible. I don’t want to become a part of this endless cycle of birth, work and death. I want to live and experience so many things.
  4. I am not impressed by big houses or fancy cars, actually they are kind of a turn off for me. Yeah, sure I imagine myself excessively wealthy like most other people, but I don’t see myself spending that wealth on huge status symbols (well besides clothes, a girl has got to be stylish), I see myself spending them on travel and experiences.
  5. As of now I detest the idea of kids and that is honestly probably for the best, but I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about it. I’m not really the mom type I mean I’m definitely not nurturing, but at some point I think I might want to try it out (not so sure about the pushing an 8 pound baby out of my vagina thing, but maybe adoption).  All I know for sure about this subject is that it will definitely be after age 38 (I want to be able to enjoy myself and be irresponsible while I still can J)
  6. My beliefs on things such as religion have changed immensely over the past year. I have started to question everything that was preached to me as a child more than I ever did before. I am a lot more comfortable with my spiritually or lack thereof, then I ever was previously.
  7. I have pretty strong feminist views. I really do get upset when I see women being undermined by men and inequalities between women and men make me irate. If any guy expects me to do anything for him that he is perfectly capable of doing, he has another thing coming.
  8. I’m lazy when it comes to things I am uninterested in, these include, but are not definitely limited to: cooking, cleaning, dishes, laundry, etc.
  9. I don’t spend enough time doing the things I love. I have such a vast array of interests and I need to better incorporate them in my life (this is one of the main reasons why I am planning on moving to Colorado).

10. I’m getting better at not caring about what other people think, but it is definitely a work in progress. I mean what gives anyone else the right to judge me based on the things I do, think, and believe. We’re all just here trying to figure it and I know that for the most part everyone else is just as confused as I am. (I’m just out here tryna function.)

11. I love my family more than anything else. I am unbelievably blessed to be so close to them and to have so much support from them.

Thats all for now.

Keep it classy.

I voted for the very first time today! Since it was a special occasion I decided I needed a patriotic outfit so I put together a voting outfit and I talked Guano into wearing one too. It was very exciting for us so on the way to our polling place we sang a few patriotic tunes  🙂 I was a little disappointed that I only had to fill in bubbles and was not able to use the punchy thing, but I guess that takes away the problem of hanging chads.

This weekend T ran in state in Jeff city and I got to go watch him run which was pretty cool! My mom and Gentry stayed the rest of the weekend and we went to this place called Shelter Gardens to take pictures for Gentry’s photography project. I kept trying to photobomb her pictures, but she said she could only take pictures of nature… likely story. We also went to Stephen’s Lake Park and walked around campus. It was really nice to spend time with them again even though I was just home 🙂

Today I spent 2 1/2 hours working with my group on our motivational interviewing role play (if you were wondering, it is as dumb as it sounds). We had the option of either acting it out in front of class or video taping it before hand so of course we video taped it. I played the part of Nurse 2-Jennifer and I plan on winning an Academy Award for my part. I would post it, but I am going to spare you all 10 minutes of awkwardness lolol.

Thats all for now. Less than 2 weeks until Thanksgiving break and I have sooo much to get done.

Keep it Classy.

Fall Break… Kind of.

30 Oct

Well it turns out that Mizzou doesn’t have a Fall break so I just had to create my own by just not going back to school.

Friday night was the free Imagine Dragons concert for homecoming week and it was off the chain. My ears continued to ring for two days so I think that tells you how awesome it was.

I drove home after the concert so I could watch Tristan run in his sectionals race the next morning. He got 19th place so he gets to go to state in Jeff city this weekend!

While I was home I my mom took me shopping and I was finally able to go to Forever 21 (it had been much too long) and we went to Costco so I could get an ice cream bar (if you haven’t had one from the food court there, trust me it will change your life).

I was planning on going back Sunday night, but then I learned that Tristan’s cross country banquet was on Tuesday and there would be fried chicken and mashed potatoes, so I weighed my options and clearly skipping class on Monday was the best choice.

I register for classes tomorrow so I have my classes picked out and I’m planning on taking chemistry, Bio lab, health sciences 1000 and 3300, Political Science, and Greek mythology.

I’m really lacking motivation currently, so this is all I got.

P.S. I found out today that Of Monsters and Men are coming to Kansas City for the Night the Buzz stole Christmas, but I won’t be here, so that’s unfortunate.

Also, the only followers we have on twitter are all of us and Tristan. It’s kind of pitiful.

Ron Swanson.

24 Oct

I officially changed my major yesterday; it is now Health Sciences with Pre-Physical Therapy. I feel a lot better after I went and talked to my new advisor, I figured what credits would count and which credits I still need to get. I am planning on apply for early admission in to the Physical Therapy program next fall, but I’ve got some work to do to get there. 200 people apply and only 30 people get in and the average gpa is 3.8-3.9, so I’m a wee bit nervous. I also have to get at least 40 shadowing hours, which won’t be a problem because my mom has a ton of connections. That also means that my plans for this summer are now taking algebra and physics 2 in summer school, working at the marina, and job shadowing.

This Friday Imagine Dragons is putting on a free concert for Mizzou’s Homecoming so I’m pretty stoked for that and then I’m going home early Saturday morning to watch Tristan run in his sectional race. I already told my mom I would like to have chicken parmesan and an ice cream bar from Costco when I come home.

P.S. Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec is in several episodes of Gilmore Girls as Jackson’s Brother Bo, if you were wondering, yes even back then he had his awesome mustache. Also I just read Nick Offerman’s Wiki page and I have even more respect for that man then I did before.
