Blogging on the Wrong Day. YOLO.

25 Oct

Sorry for my lack of blogging. I’ve just kind of lost all motivation to do anything this semester. I’ve skipped so many of my 8am lectures. Since the last test, there have been a total of 6 lectures. I’ve only made it to one. And going to tomorrow’s lecture is questionable as of right now. It’s just easier to push snooze until it’s too late to get up, then you just sleep for another hour. But it’s kinda bad because out of all my classes, this is probably the class that I shouldn’t be skipping. Meh.

HV is going well so far. I’ve mainly been in the deli making sammies and packaging meats and cheese this week. It’s not too bad. Last week I was up front sacking groceries and pushing carts. I hate pushing carts, mainly because I’m scared a cart is going to go astray and hit some Benz and also because you have to have a lot of muscle to do that job effectively, which is most definitely not me. I mentioned this before but I prefer working in the deli. It’s probably because it’s not as strict, probably because they don’t really have a manager right now. But you also get to do a variety of things, not just sack groceries. But I guess both departments have their pros and cons.

Last week me Derek and Emily went to the Halloweenie Roast and saw Crystal Fighters, The Colourist, The 1975, Portugal. The Man, and The Naked and The Famous. It was an awesome line up and I definitely had a good time, being 21 and all. 😉

This weekend is the last weekend we’re working at the marina since the rental season will be over on Halloween (HOW IS IT ALREADY THE END OF OCTOBER?!). Since it’s gotten colder, we really haven’t had much business, which is totally understandable. So it’s kind of been just like a bunch of broskis hanging out and getting paid for it. Not too bad. But I’m a little bit sad because I did enjoy going home every weekend and sleeping in my own bed and seeing my mom. That being said, I’m going to like not having to drive back and forth every weekend, it gets a little mundane after a while.

Also note-worthy—I learned how to ride a bike last weekend (Yes I know, it’s embarrassing. But at least I know how to now!) and got a lot of bruises on my legs because of it. Also I learned without having to be pushed down a hill. Just a side-note.

And 28 DAYS UNTIL LONDON. WHAT!!! I still remember purchasing the plane tickets this summer when the countdown was in the 90s. It’s crazy to think that it’s almost here!! But I’m so excited!!

Also new J.R. developments, we’ll see where that goes. That’s all I can say about that.

Peace out, girl scouts.

More Sickness and Other Fun Stuff

25 Apr

Sorry for not blogging last week. I feel like a slacker. Not really. But you didn’t really miss much from my life as I was sick again with a pretty high fever and everything else that comes with being sick. I skipped class Tuesday and went home to see my regular doctor (Fun fact, he’s Chinese). My step-mom suggested it since I was already established there and if I went to a doctor here I’d have to go to a completely new place, start new paper work, blah blah blah, etc. It was just easier this way. Anyway they think it was a sinus infection so they gave me some antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. I stayed at home that night, skipped my 9am lab the next morning, and got back in time for my 12 o’clock history class. I’m feeling loads better now anyhow.

On Saturday I went to the Itzhak Perlman concert at the Kauffman Center. Yep. I saw probably one of the most famous violinists

Mr. Perlman  leaving the stage with accompanist and a standing-o from the audience.

preform. Nothing is really like a live performance, and that goes for any concert really. But this in particular was nothing short incredible. He’s a musical genius and makes a difficult talent look so easy. I’m so incredibly jealous of his abilities and seeing him preform definitely made me miss violin/being in symphony even more than I already have been missing it. I’m so glad I decided to buy a ticket to see him, even if I did go alone. Since it was Jewell sponsored event, I did see a lot of Jewell people, including a few of my old sorority sisters and even my high school orchestra director. Those moments were a little bit querd but it was nice to catch-up for a few moments.

While driving to the venue, I was about to turn onto the street of the Kauffman and noticied that a pretty decent sized group of the WBC were picketing. It was after thinking about it that I realized they were picketing the concert. I am a Christian but these people are wayyyyyyy off the mark on many things. I mean aren’t we all called to love no matter what? Isn’t the only person who can judge is God Himself? I mean IT’S JUST A CONCERT FOR GOODNESS SAKE. Really guys, stop your ridiculousness and go home.

At any rate, the days left in the semester keep dwindling and honestly I’m not exactly sure how I feel about it. I sooooooooo badly want it to be summer already, where I won’t have to worry about school and can actually get a decent night’s rest. But that being said, I also don’t want to be thinking about the millions of things I still have to do and the million and 50 things I have to study before the end of the semester. The end of the semester has crept up on me and I’m so not ready for it. Pray I don’t get sick again, that’s the last thing I need!

Better get back to studying! I have a test later today…..
Peace out!
Megan

PS. I wish I knew why I found this so hilarious. Maybe you’ll find it hilarious too.

Fall Break… Kind of.

30 Oct

Well it turns out that Mizzou doesn’t have a Fall break so I just had to create my own by just not going back to school.

Friday night was the free Imagine Dragons concert for homecoming week and it was off the chain. My ears continued to ring for two days so I think that tells you how awesome it was.

I drove home after the concert so I could watch Tristan run in his sectionals race the next morning. He got 19th place so he gets to go to state in Jeff city this weekend!

While I was home I my mom took me shopping and I was finally able to go to Forever 21 (it had been much too long) and we went to Costco so I could get an ice cream bar (if you haven’t had one from the food court there, trust me it will change your life).

I was planning on going back Sunday night, but then I learned that Tristan’s cross country banquet was on Tuesday and there would be fried chicken and mashed potatoes, so I weighed my options and clearly skipping class on Monday was the best choice.

I register for classes tomorrow so I have my classes picked out and I’m planning on taking chemistry, Bio lab, health sciences 1000 and 3300, Political Science, and Greek mythology.

I’m really lacking motivation currently, so this is all I got.

Keep it Classy.

-Kendyl

P.S. I found out today that Of Monsters and Men are coming to Kansas City for the Night the Buzz stole Christmas, but I won’t be here, so that’s unfortunate.

Also, the only followers we have on twitter are all of us and Tristan. It’s kind of pitiful.

not caring about school anymore because there is only 1 month left

11 Apr

Today is the first day in a while where I don’t know what to write about, but I will try to think of something.

I always do. Thursday at 3 I left to go home for Easter, which was cool. Friday morning I had an interview for a summer job at UpDog; it was super chill and the guy who interviewed me didn’t write my answers down or anything, we just had a conversation. I think I’ll get the job.

Friday I also found out I did get selected out of like 60 people to be an ambassador, I think I wrote about that in my last post but I pretty much knew I’d get it. Friday I went to church at 3 and we dyed Easter eggs that night. I had a video assignment due Tuesday, which I had not started on, hence I had to film at home. I used my dad’s video camera, but alas, I FORGOT MY FREAKING TRIPOD HEFOWAFNMKS;NVSDZK;NVD. What a pain in the ass. I had to conduct interviews by sitting my family down at the kitchen table and putting the camera on a peanut butter jar in order to achieve proper framing.

Saturday I did my photography assignment at Carrie’s soccer game, and that was fun because I hadn’t been to one of her games since last season (fall). Moritz told her to score a goal for him before the game (she never scores goals) and lo and behold… she did! I also made mini Easter cheesecakes that I found on pinterest, and they had devil coconut on it. But I don’t mind coconut. Then we went from church from 8-10pm, and I’m almost 100% sure that I was the last one to blow out my candle when they told us to. (I kept letting mine stay lit for like 5 extra minutes.)

Sunday was Easter, Carrie woke me up too early at 8:00 am, and I went downstairs to my awesome Easter basket, including about 30,000 calories worth of chocolate. I still have this weird thing going on where I never have much of an appetite, so I didn’t eat a lot of it yet, and I left it at home when I came back to school. Who IS this person that I’m turning into?! My dad had been saying that there would be no “Amazing Race/Easter Egg Hunt” this year (Morgan, you can understand what I’m talking about) but we ended up having one anyway, he tricked us 🙂 It was a little shorter though, but it was still a lot of fun, and included but was not limited to: filling a sock up with lima beans in a relay race, sitting on a bench in a small cemetery, going to an arcade, giving cookies to firemen, and “destroying the Horcruxes” by using a slingshot to shoot marbles at 6 plates with pictures of Voldemort, Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, Professor Umbridge, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Dementors taped to them. I broke Voldemort.

Sunday night I decided I didn’t feel like driving back to school, so I played hooky on Monday! (My first time for these classes, but they are MWF at 9, 10, and 11 so I couldn’t really get back in time in the morning.) I did my Spanish homework that was due and emailed it to him. I woke up around 8:30 and left at 10:30. Got back at 1:30, skyped briefly (because Moritz is in Spain Tuesday-Thursday), and then proceeded to the Mac Lab to work on my video project.

What I was not anticipating was the fact that I had to transfer 20+ video clips to the Mac computer via MY 8GIG MEMORY CARD. That was annoying. I had to do it because a portable hard drive can’t be compatible with a mac and pc simultaneously. THEN I had to convert all the files to be able to be seen on Final Cut Pro, THEN they didn’t have sound so I had to convert them again. This took about 2 hours. By the time the video was done, I had spent a total of SEVEN CONSECUTIVE HOURS on this dang assignment. However, time went fast due to the high level of fun I was having.

(hope you guys can see it)

Tonight we’re having an event called Sex on Campus, where the human sexuality teacher answers people’s anonymous questions. I signed up to “chalk” for the event, meaning write information on the ground outside around campus. I incidentally made a trail of sperm that lead to the building in which the event is held. Clever, I know.

I’m tired of typing, you’re probably tired of reading, see you on the flip side.

Crappy Day

23 Feb

Hey broskis. What up.
Today has probably been one of the worst days of college so far. For one I got minimal amount of sleep because I procrastinated my annotated bibliographies. I thought it was going to take like a couple hours tops. But I was wrong. I finally left the union around 4am. Then I had to study for my anatomy lab test, which was at 7:45 this morning. So after getting back from the union I studied a bit in our hall lounge, took a little nap, woke up and studied for like 20 mins before class, then went to class. It was a really grand night. Then after my anatomy test, which consisted of knowing the axial and appendicular skeletons, as well as viewing slides of tissues (which for the most part looked like pink blobs under the microscope), I decided to get some decent sleep before my 12:25 class. Well I overslept my alarm and I woke up at 1:30. I absolutely HATE skipping class, unless it is absolutely necessary (ie: the winter x-games). Maybe that’s the Asian-ness of me. But I had a choice of words I said to myself when I realized that I missed class. THEN… Kendyl and I decided to go to lunch and once we got to the Union I realize that my ID is missing from my lanyard. So then I had another choice of words I said to myself. Luckily my ID fell out of my pocked outside the union so I didn’t have to search long for it.

In happier news, Saturday I played in my first symphony orchestra concert. BRYAN BUSBY WAS THERE AND SAT LIKE 5 FEET BEHIND ME. It was kind of awesome. OH! And after the first half (the half that I played in) at intermission, I was walking backstage, and because it was dark and couldn’t see much of anything, I kicked a case of some instrument, AND almost ran in to Bryan Busby. That’s right, I almost ran in to BRYAN BUSBY. I was like “Oops, I’m sorry” then he was like “Oh you’re fine!” NBD, bro, I almost ran into Bryan Busby. But anyway it was a nice concert because most of my family was there to see me. And most of my hall came and surprised me with flowers. Anyway, the orchestra as a whole did pretty awesome, me on the other hand…. lol. Our next concert is in 6 days. I’m actually kind of excited for it, because for one the music is super cool and is somewhat more manageable for me to play, and we’re playing Two Door Cinema Club, which some music major here arranged for orchestra. But there’s no professional musicians in this concert, it’s just all Jewell Strings, so that will be a bit interesting…

Yesterday I went to my first Ash Wednesday service, and it was interesting because they did the ash cross thing on the forehead of everyone. And my friends and I that went weren’t sure if there was like etiquette for it, like when it’s okay to wash it off. (pretty sure mine just rubbed off eventually) Tonight most of our hall is going to see a free screening of 21 Jump Street. I can’t go however because I have a bible study, which I’m actually looking forward to. And Kendyl has to work in the Library. Oh and yesterday I actually applied for a position at Jackson County Parks and Rec for the summer. Hopefully I’m not too late…. I really need one of those job things… Sorority life is really making me dirt poor.
That’s it for now borskis. Peace out girl scouts.
Megan

PS. Idk if you saw this on my FB… But it’s creepy and quite hilarious.
