It’s already APRIL

2 Apr

I forgot to blog.
April Fools! I was just really busy and this will be the only “joke” I’ve played on anyone today. Did you all play any tricks on anyone?
Alright so my week was short, but the weekend was long. That has to be the best formula for a week there is.

Monday I had an interview with the baseball coaches about the position of Bat Girl. I think it went relatively well. It lasted a total of ten minutes, but in that time I chatted it up about the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field, and found out that the coach’s first declared major was geology- just like me! So I think I made a good impression and I should know about the internship at the end of this week or the beginning of next. I will keep you posted! Monday I also started taking allergy medicine and man it makes me drowsy- so drowsy that all I did Tuesday was sleep.

Wednesday I learned how to tie Bowline on a Bight and a Fisherman’s knot. I also learned how to belay. I feel so cool because I know this stuff. Like for real. I am totally new to all this so I lucked out when my partners during grounds school were pretty much pro-climbers. One of their names is J.J. and he helped me a lot, and I hope he is the one that my life is entrusted upon while I’m climbing tomorrow because he sure knows what he is doing.

Thursday, Kendal and I went to find storage places in Greeley so we can keep our winter and bulky items here over the summer. We had to go to 4th avenue… the train tracks are on 6th avenue. Here’s the number one rule on campus: Don’t cross the train tracks.
Side note- we (The University of Northern Colorado) have a whole website devoted to this on facebook. I think it’s stellar, and if you would like to look at more just search for University of Northern Colorado Meme page. (I don’t really know how to spell that “M” word but, I think you get what I’m trying to communicate.)
Ok so we get to this storage place and no one is there. The gates are locked and it really just looks deserted. The next door neighbors own a huge bloodhound that hasn’t stopped barking since our arrival and all the signs are like hand painted on plywood. If this isn’t sketch then I don’t know what is folks. We tried to find other places but this one is dirt cheap, split between 2 people it will cost $70 and my dad was anticipating $200! This is a steal- I just don’t know if I want to chance my things being stolen. Also on Thursday is Nav Night. After that, Kendal and I went to J.J.’s house because he was hosting a worship night. We got there and I was a little skeptical because I only knew one person there and we aren’t like great friends. But it turned out to be a great experience and I am looking forward to next time.

Friday night was great fun. My hall got together and played Fugitive! I love that almost everyone on my floor is so nice and fun and open and likes to stay sober every once in a while. After 2 rounds, we played capture the flag then hit a couple hitches- there were rule disputes and a couple of cranky folks so we opted to walk to the McDonald’s for snacks instead. The weather was perfect and we all enjoyed our fun filled evening outside; we finished the night with the movie Thor. I had never seen it but I am a huge fan now.

Saturday Tori and I spent some time alone and went shopping for Easter stuff. I ended the day with 2 shirts purchased and nothing to wear for Easter.
That leads us to today. Sunday was so beautiful! I had a soccer game at 1 and we won by like 6 against a team of giants. Then I stayed out on the scorching hot turf to watch another hour long game and finished the day with a gnarly farmer’s tan. It’s more like a burn but…. details details…
I will end this post with Happy Palm Sunday, Happy Monday, Happy Good Friday and See you Soon!!
~Morgan

P.S. I have noticed that I really love to use adjectives. I hope that it doesn’t bother you and only adds to your wild reading experience! (See what I did there)

p.p.s. It is so windy here that, even with the windows closed and a fan running, the wind is howling so loud that it just woke up Tori, and that is hard to do once she’s in bed asleep. I hate wind.

p.p.p.s. Rock Chalk Jayhawk, KU!

Tan lines

26 Mar

Warm weather on a weekend means great things. Warm weather on a Saturday that I have a Geology field trip means wicked tan lines. Wicked in a bad way- and not the kind of tan lines you would think of first like farmers tan or even sock tan. No, I have burnt ears and tan lines from the earrings I was wearing. For real.
So this last week was the first week back at school from Spring Break. Oh how I miss that break…
BUT coming back to school meant the start of my Ropes Course class! I love it super a lot. Tomorrow is our last day of team building activities and this Wednesday is the start of ground school, whatever that means (although I’m 90% positive that it’s the knot tying and belaying instruction).
Thursday (or technically Friday) I went to see THE HUNGER GAMES with my floor for the Midnight Premiere. Holy Cow! That movie was the greatest. It depicted the book almost perfectly and anything that was different wasn’t a huge distraction for me. It was by far the greatest book-to-movie experience I’ve had. (I did not get to enjoy Harry Potter like the rest of the world and that might have changed this opinion but I will never know.) Also I am proud to say that I loved these books before I everyone else was like “Everybody loves these books so I’m going to too.”- Yeah that wasn’t me.
Those are the big highlights from the week. I am looking forward to a job interview and the Finals of the NCAA tournament. GO KU! or Kentucky.. either one I’d be fine with because my bracket is already screwed because of Duke ūüė¶
My job interview is Wednesday for the position of Bat Girl for our baseball team! I saw the posting for Bat Girl on our job bank and I thought it was a joke at first, but I sent my resume anyways and received an email saying the coaching staff wanted to interview me. Since then I have been playing email tag for the past week trying to set up a time that will work for both our schedules and it’s getting kind of ridiculous. I seriously just like 20 minutes ago had to reschedule again but the interview is final now.
So that’s all. Except today Kendal and I made a paper chain to count down the rest of the school year. I have 40 days including weekends until I am home and my summer begins! I really miss the humidity of home, no lie. When it’s even a little bit moist outside- yeah not even enough moisture in the air to call it humid- Greeley smells like pee.

Stay ahead of the crowd like me
~Morgan
p.s. I would love to think THE HUNGER GAMES is trending but it’s not… Actually I don’t really know anything about trending because I don’t know how to really work twitter yet. But whatevs.

Weekly update time!

Now normally, I would type up a day-by-day recall of my week: but this week has been most uneventful. Seriously. I didn’t go to many classes because I have not been feeling well and could not get good sleep when my eyes finally would close. I think this was caused by my stressed out Sunday.. I spent most of my Sunday worrying about sharing my story/testimony with my Bible study group and then it didn’t go as well as I had hoped so I was bummed then just became restless I suppose.

The stuff that actually was cool I will tell you about here > So Friday I went to see a musical put on by my school called Ragtime. It was a great production, and now more than ever I want to play Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked on Broadway. Saturday I missed brunch (this is very sad because they had bacon) but I did go to the senior night for our girl’s basketball team. We won and now the girls are in second seed in the Big Sky conference post-season tournament. Wish our boys were better. Saturday night, Kendal and I went to church and heard a great message about Rest in God, kind of just what I needed to hear. Then Sunday= Game Day! I have been a little nervous about the abilities of our team, but we started the season with a win! Well, really the other team didn’t show up until I had already signed the paper saying they forfeited and we won… but we¬†scrimmaged¬†them anyways and I’m pretty sure we either won or tied. They seemed pretty put together too… and their goalie was wearing awesome sunglasses the whole time which just made¬†everything¬†better. And now Megan, Holly, Tori, and I are going to Fort Collins for a pizza dinner at Beau Jo’s.

Looking forward too: Spring Break! Starts on Friday!! Also, I’m road tripping with Kelsey to Springfield to see Cathy! We are going to Lambert’s and I am pumped. Ooh ooh I’m starting my Ropes Course class on Monday! So exciting and nerve- wrecking at the same time. Can’t wait to be home though.

Random schmamdom: I made a bookmark out of pressed flowers from Valentines Day and I think it’s pretty neat. Also, March Madness starts so soon that I can hardly stand it another minute! March is the best only because it is filled with the sounds of whistles blowing, buzzers screaming, basketballs being dunked, screaming fans, crying fans, and¬†upsets that will either make or break your ENTIRE bracket. (Like last year when Kansas lost in like round two and I had them winning it all in one bracket- never again my friends, never again!) I am super ultra sore again. This time it’s from kickboxing class.
