15 days.

7 Nov

15 days. THAT’S HOW MANY DAYS UNTIL LONDON. The other day I bought some milk and saw that the expiration date is on the 24th. Then I thought to myself, “Hum, this milk is going to expire when I’m in London.” Also, today my foreign monies came in for the trip. And earlier this week we booked our train tickets for Paris and Bruges. Also, today I watched Winning London on YouTube. I used to borrow it from the library all the time. Also my life will literally be this BuzzFeed article once we get to London.

Monday I had an advising meeting, which was kind of pointless. I just sat there and told my adviser what I had planned on taking because I don’t really have a set schedule of things I need to take since I’m just sort of wasting time. I’m kind of taking prerequisites for other nursing schools so I can also apply to them next semester. But as of right now, it looks like I’ll be at 14 credit hours Monday through Thursday, taking English 2, Med Term, Public Speaking, Biology Lab, and Foundations of Art. I tried so hard to get by with just 12 credits but it was difficult to with biology only being 2 credits. Beginning Chinese was an option but I decided against it since they meet every single day in conjunction with a one day a week lab, also it was 6 credits. O.o

I’ve come to the conclusion that I am so tired of school. My work ethic as well as my attendance in most of my classes has gone down a bit (the only class I haven’t skipped at least once this semester is my music appreciation class, which is the class I probably could actually skip because it’s so easy). And being completely honest, this is probably the laziest I’ve ever been. For example, yesterday I accomplished nothing, except for watching a lot of Netflix. I watched a couple episodes of Breaking Bad, rewatched an episode of Sherlock, and watched 21 & Over. Have you guys seen Say Anything? It’s an 80’s Rom-Com and I watched it yesterday too and it was the greatest. Anyway, if JR were to hold up a boom box at my window… LOL. JKJK. 😀

Peace out, girl scouts.

PS. Sorry for the mass rambling of this post. I didn’t really know what to write about this week.

Spring Time Happenings

14 Mar

I really can’t believe that another week is pretty much over. It’s crazy to think that I’ll soon be starting my third year of college in August. It makes me feel so old. Only 40-some-odd days left this school year!

Anyway, this week I pretty much forgot that I had to register for classes. So for like 2 days I was freaking out because I didn’t know what exactly I was supposed to be taking. Next semester I’ll have the good ole 8ams for 4 out of the 5 days. Not looking forward to that since this semester I had a lot of late classes.

Since I basically stockpiled credits this semester, I kind of ran out of things to take. I only had 3 classes I was required to take, leaving me with only 11 credits and being completely under full time. So I spent a good 2 hours or so trying to find and elective that I would be interested in. Harry Potter class was completely full, that was depressing. I thought about taking an Asian studies class, but thought… mehhh, better not. And I even thought about taking another English class, but I was like, mehhhh, not feeling like reading and writing papers. So I ended up looking at music for non-majors (go figure, right?). I actually thought about taking studio lessons for violin again but I was just thinking about how much I hate practicing, plus you have juries, blah. Not going to lie though, I kind of miss all of that, and playing in symphony with Bryan Busby.

Spring break is next week! I can’t wait!! It’s mainly because the Les Mis extended soundtrack and DVD are being released, but also because COLORADO and I get to go home. And also I’ll get to sleep in. But I will probably be studying a lot. Professors think they’re so clever putting tests the week AFTER spring break. Little do they know all other professors are doing the same.

Also, yesterday I went to an AA meeting for my nursing class. That was an interesting experience and was actually kind of eye opening. I did have to introduce myself, that was a little bit querd. But thankfully there were other students there from my class so it ended up being okay. Haha.

I hope you all had some time to get out and enjoy the nice weather today! Except if you live in Findland, or other cold areas… 😦 lol!

PS. A video for your enjoyment. I don’t know if you guys every used Boomwackers in elementary school music class… but this is pretty much an orchestra of Boomwackers!!

Stressful

19 Apr

Hey bros!

On Tuesday, people classified as freshmen registered for classes for next semester. That was super stressful for me because I tend to freak out in those situations, and also a couple of the classes that I wanted to take were on the verge of being completely filled so I had to rearrange several things right before registration opened. And also since everyone seemed to be pressing the “submit” button right at 10 PM, the server crashed. I had to re-click submit like 4 times. And because of that, I’m not sure if I will be getting into the WWII and the Holocaust class. But I’ve been emailing people about it, because 17 is a silly number for maximum number of students. SHM. #smallschoolprobs

Also this week, since I won’t be living in the sorority complex, I’ve been on a search for a roommate for next year. I was originally planning to live with another soccer player, Lauren. We’ve had several classes together this year. But she found out today that she gets to live in the sorority complex. Kim, a girl from our hall, didn’t have a roommate either… until now! So now and a some of other girls from our hall are planning to live in the same building/hall next semester. Totes looking forward to that!

Yesterday was JewellStock. Basically the school brings in a bunch of inflatables (including the obstacle course inflatable from project grad) and everyone just hangs out outside. There was also free cotton candy and free dinner. Well I don’t think it’s really “free” because we’re paying a lot to be here…. I had a lot of cotton candy… Kendyl had significantly more. So she was on a sugar high for quite some time. I also injured myself going down the big inflatable slide because my arm rubbed up against the side of the slide the whole way down. Pretty sure it took off a few layers of skin. It’s a little sore today and I think there are some blisters that formed… Gross.

Today I had a Psych Test. And for some random reason my nose started bleeding in the middle of it. That WOULD happen to me. But it’s a good thing I had some napkins in my backpack. Also today my hall also went to Los Compas for dinner for 3 dollar tacos. Apparently it’s the cool hangout on Taco Thrusdays for Jewell kids because pretty sure a third of our school population was there. And after that we went to Lemon Tree (like Yogurtini, only in Liberty). YUM.

Tomorrow we don’t have classes because it’s colloquium day. So I’ll probably get to sleep in for a little bit, which will be nice. Then this weekend is going to be super busy. Saturday I’m volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House (my sorority’s philanthropy) for a couple hours. Then one of my hall-mate’s wants to go check out a church’s evening weekend service. Then Sunday I work. And I have to be back here for our dorm’s pageant. I’m rapping a small section and dancing for part of our hall’s presentation. It will be awesome!!

Three weeks, bros. Hopefully anatomy doesn’t kill me. Literally. I’m really worried for my sanity and how my brain is going to hold all of that information for the comprehensive final. I hate anatomy. But not as much as I hate the instructor….

Let’s Mate, lawl

28 Mar

The last half of my spring break was a lot like the first: uneventful. But I loved every minute of it.
I got to hang out with Nick on the plaza on Saturday! Yay!

Sunday I left home at 4, and when I got back to school at 7 the sun was still out! Yay again! I was pretty happy to be back, not happy about the classes that would inevitably follow, but it is what it is.

Monday I found out that I got a 93% on my Spanish oral presentation – I’m very happy because that guy never gives A’s. If he does, it’s usually a 90. So 93 was quite welcome to my eyes. It was a pretty easy day in that class; since he’s from Argentina he made this big presentation about it and we got to hold a 1,000,000 (peso?) bill because he said inflation was so bad that he was a multimillionaire. Then he got out this suspicious little silver cup with a thick metal straw and told us about this drink called “mate” (no, not MATE like “the animals MATEd”, but mate pronounced like “mott-ay”). It looked like drugs. But anyway he said he drinks it every day and he said we could try it too. So he gave it to one girl and she was about to wipe off the straw and he said NONONO that’s a symbol of friendship when people all share the same straw. Anyway, whatever I drink wine after people at church so I decided to try it. It tasted NASTY. Well I don’t like tea so that probably didn’t help my perception of it. But I would not recommend it.

Monday night, some friends were having a surprise party for my ex-suitemate Alexis. It was at Springfield Incredible Pizza Company, and the price was incredible…Y HIGH!! But it was good, and we played some laser tag.

Yesterday was really fun, not really. It wasn’t too bad though. My photography teacher was surprisingly agreeable and OK’d all my prints on the second copy (after making some changes)… usually it takes 3 or 4 tries. But maybe he just knows we’re all starting to run out of paper. I had class until 3, and then Moritz and I finally skyped! That was so nice. The good news: His tests are finally over!!!!!! The bad news: that means like a week of solid partying (I won’t comment on that). The other bad news: his schools he applied to STILL haven’t received anything from him. Hmmm. But anyway, we got to talk a lot and it was super awesome.

Last night I went to an informational “mixer” about becoming a Drury Ambassador, AKA working with alumni when they come to visit. I didn’t really want to go but I decided to. You had to get invited and about 60 people showed up. They said they only wanted to get like 15-20 new people but you have to interview for it. So now after going I think it would be cool to get, but if not oh well I don’t really care.

Today I had advising with my alpha professor to pick my classes for next semester… FFFFFFFFFFFF. (Hint: I’m having a hard time choosing classes that don’t all meet at the same time. My professor suggested a class which would meet a requirement, which is from 3-4:30pm T/H, entitled, “The Bible, Sex, and Sexuality.” The class is taught by an openly gay woman professor who is also a devout Christian. Sounds interesting, but I don’t wanna be in class until 4:30! Hence, my pickyness regarding class times is causing my problems.)

Keep it real

Cathy
