Winter

15 Jan

Going from a month of being mostly alone (and enjoying it) to being constantly surrounded by 18-22 year olds 24/7 is such difficult transition. Add on to that moving to a new dorm, having a new roommate, getting a loaded schedule, doing laundry, and returning from a weekend retreat in frigid Wyoming and you’ve got one stressed and sleepy college girl. Looking on the bright side of things: I got to experience new things in a new state right before school started, the cold temperatures are keeping the snow around making for beautiful scenery as I walk to all my classes, I have a bedroom to myself so I can be free to decorate as I please, and I don’t have to do laundry until probably Saturday (I still have a lot of dirty clothes that I ran out of time to wash before coming to school).

I can hardly believe I am in my 4th semester of college, time is flying by. This semester a lot of things are going to change. But the biggest change is that I no longer live with Tori, since she got a job as an R.A. That makes me a little sad because I have spent everyday of the past 3 semesters with her. Literally. Also, I really want to go to yogurtini with you all.

I hope you guys enjoy your last week of break and also the new snow in the mountains.

Colorado

4 Nov

Friday I left for Colorado, I packed 99% of my stuff the morning I left but I don’t own very many things so I had no problems. I did not enjoy the 10 hour drive here very much especially since this was the 5 th time in less than a year I have driven I-70 from Missouri to Colorado, but I made the whole drive without going crazy. I stayed in a hotel in Georgetown, Colorado friday night, then I moved in (dropped all my stuff on the floor) to my employee apartment saturday morning. Then after moving in my focus became 100% on getting my employee ski pass as quick as possible and after filling out a bunch of paper work and paying my rent I finally got it around 11 am and I was snowboarding by  11:15. After the lifts closed at 4:30 I went and picked up my uniform and watched football in the super nice lobby of our building with some other employees.

The most awesome thing about living here is how close I live to the slopes, today (sunday) I woke up at 8:15 got dressed grabbed a pop tart and my snowboard then after a 5 minute walk I was on the lift riding up the mountain where I boarded untill 4:30. Also within walking distance of me are several restaurants, shops, and a grocery store.

My roommate doesn’t move in for a few more weeks, so I don’t have to pick all my stuff up off the floor for a while. I have only been here 2 days but so far this place has been pretty awesome and I don’t think I will have a problem living here for 6 months, I have 4 days of lift operator training starting tomorrow.

Sunday

13 Feb

These past two weeks have been the busiest ever.

Last week I did something I’ve never done before; I got a tutor. That was probably one of the toughest things I’ve done in awhile. I am way too stubborn to ask for help but if I want to pass Organismal Biology, I’m going to need my tutor. I have studied more for this class in the past weeks than I have ever studied before in my entire life. Note to everyone out there- biology is stupid, I prefer non-living things (ex. rocks, dust, dirt, sediment, cookies, ice-cream, sleep). I also joined a Bible study that meets on Monday nights. There are 5 other freshmen girls in it and right now we are studying the book of Hebrews. It’s pretty interesting and Hebrews is only 13 chapters so y’all should read it if you have the chance.

Almost fun thing that happened this week, I went to a Valentine’s Day party! But don’t get too excited, it was thrown by Navigators (the Christian ministry on campus). I helped decorate for 3 hours before the party, met some people, then when everybody started dancing I snuck out the door. Me + dancing = disaster. I didn’t want to lose the friends I had just made. (:

This weekend Tori’s family moved to a new house. It is super huge and pretty. I have never really helped anyone move before and, man, it was not easy. (I also contracted a cold or something this weekend so that didn’t help). If any of you ever move, I will help by paying someone else to give you a massage after it’s all done and then I’ll go to your house and complement on how good everything looks. If you really really really do need help I will volunteer, but you better have a hot tub for me to soak in afterwards. (Tori’s fam has/had one but it wasn’t working properly this weekend- super sad)

Tomorrow, Tori and I are going to see The Vow. I am so ready. I have tissues and new water proof mascara and lots of candy. I literally cannot wait to see this movie. I also want to see The Lucky One staring Zach Efron, The Lorax, New Years Eve, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Mirror Mirror, The Hunger Games, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (this is a musical staring first Daniel Radcliffe, then Darren Criss, then Nick Jonas I want to see it three times). All these cost money and I aint got none. Bummed. I applied to 3 places to work at over the summer, and will be applying to a 4th over spring break- I better get one.

Things to look forward to this weekend: skiing on saturday.

Things I’m afraid might kill me this weekend: skiing on saturday.

I hope to tell y’all all about it next week, if I make it!
