I need to do laundry

16 Oct

I just made the executive decision to blog today because Friday I’ll be in IRELAND!

This week has been kind of weird. Friday night we went to my favorite club. We pregamed in our room for once, instead of our guy friends’ room. I didn’t know if I’d be able to drink anything after my Bacardi Mishap of last weekend, but I got a good chaser and my friend Austin recited Shakespeare to me. He said people need a mantra for taking shots, like 3 lines of Shakespeare, but I told him that I only know “wherefore art thou Romeo” and so he said, “O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name” to me repeatedly. It worked! Listening to Shakespeare definitely made it go down easier.

We went out and got to the club after about an hour of wandering around and shouting “PANTY RAID” in various tube stations. Then my roommates almost got in a fist fight in the rain outside the club at 2am. They were both super drunk and Megan didn’t want to come home with us because she was with some guy, and she kept being really mean to Hanna and Madi. I’m surprised Hanna could even stand up. She was even drunker than Bethany that one night over the summer. LOL. She fell asleep so fast when we got home and was super hungover the next day. Megan came home at 4:30am and started shouting “I’m sorry!” the second she came in the door and crawled into bed with Hanna and asked her if she wanted to order a pizza.

The rest of this week has not been too noteworthy. Midterms. I get an A- or a B+ on every assignment. George wore a pink shirt and purple pants to class on Monday. That was the first time I’d gone to his class on Monday in 3 weeks. I ate cake, chocolate milk, and a chocolate bar for dinner. I hope I don’t fail my international relations midterm tomorrow because we haven’t learned ANYTHING all semester.

Other than that, the only thing I’m really concerned about right now is getting all my clothes washed before fall break, especially my underwear. Sharing 5 washers and 5 dryers between 150 kids who are about to go on vacation for 10 days is not an ideal situation, as I’m sure you can imagine.

Anyway, I’m super excited to go on my trip! I’ll try to send you guys postcards 🙂 I’ll blog again in about 2 weeks or so.

Have a great rest of your week!

Cathy

P.S. Yes I got a little schwastey last night at my home bar, The Metropolitan, in the presence of my friends Hanna, Carson, and GEORGE MY PROFESSOR. And I had a field trip with him this morning, but it wasn’t even awkward. It would have been more awkward if I had missed it 😉

Queen of Procrastiation

15 Apr

I have declared myself Queen of Procrastination. I have far too many subjects that follow my lead. I apologize for being such a great leader in this quality.
Instead of writing this post I should be writing a critique on a piece of artwork. EW.
Also, HI MOM!  (I just found out that she reads this blog! ha)
So—- jk— I’m already done with my critique, I had vegetables for dinner, and my room is clean. (It’s like the game 2 truths and a lie, but reversed)
A few weeks ago I went to advising and wasted 30 minutes rewriting my plan. The only thing that changed this time around was that now I get to take 6 credits over a summer or winter term. Yipee for declaring late in the game! But, what I failed to do was ask my adviser if it was possible to declare a minor in Outdoor Adventure Programing, that’s a real thing, although I don’t think it’s possible unless I want to stay in college FOREVER. Which I certainly do not. College is really unexciting when you don’t really know what you want to do when you really grow up.. the only reason I want to minor in the Outdoor Program is because it’s almost exactly like what I will do for summer camp. I love summer camp, just not the other 3 seasons around summer and all the stuff I have to do during those extra seasons. Man, I’m tired of not really loving school.
Another good reason I am procrastinating is because I just did laundry. This is a good thing! I haven’t done laundry since spring break and I ran out of clothes. Bad thing, all my new clothes that I got over spring break need to be hang dried. Aint NOBODY got time for ‘dat. So I have clothes laying on every flat surface around my room and that is preventing me from going to bed, I have a really hard life, too many clothes so I can’t sleep in my nice bed. #FirstWorldProblems

This Tuesday I will be in a Kindergarten classroom reading to 6 six year olds for 30 minutes. I am excited but not ready. I went last Thursday for the first time and it was a blast. But this time, I’m not so sure, my book is kinda stupid, especially compared to the first book I read which they loved. — I’m sure they will find ways to entertain me if we have time left. Last time, we spent 5 minutes introducing ourselves. As we went around the circle, each student added something to my original question of “What is your name?” By the time the sixth kid got to say her name she spelled it, stated her first, middle, and last name, repeated all that information, said she liked to read, and showed me her socks. It was fantastic. They are so excited that an adult wants to spend time with them. I love it. I just hope that they all wear pants this week, last week one girl showed us all her new underpants by doing a summersault in her dress. Oh Kindergarten…
I’ll let you know how it goes.

p.s. 26 days until I’m home! and 37 until I go to camp!

One day more.

21 Mar

One more dawn, one more day until I’m free for a whole week! Yep. Spring break is pretty much here. Actually it has kind of sort of been here all week. I’ve had the hardest time staying focused on anything academic. I’m pretty sure I took a nap every day this week, except for today since I was on campus until 6:30. And I’ve been doing laundry/packing/watching Scrubs since I got back. I hate Thursdays.

Anyway, long story short, we’re not going to Colorado. Although I was/am quite disappointed (I was really starting to miss those mountains), it’s probably for the best that I won’t be spending 20 hours on the road. Truth be told, I really need to study for the 3 tests I have the week after break. But Kendyl and I are planning on taking a short road trip one day this week, so that should relieve our road-trip craving.

Today in microbiology we were talking about allergies/hypersensitivities. This was a meme that was featured in the presentation. If only I could actually pet cats… Ai ya. 😦

Also tomorrow, Les Mis is coming out on DVD!!!!! I think that’s enough said.

Peace out!

Gas Problems

25 Jan

Hello world! (That’s a computer science joke, Google it if you’re confused.) Hard to believe it’s Wednesday already because I’ve been a day off this whole week so by now I think it should be Thursday.

The end of the last school week wasn’t too eventful; Friday after my 11:00 class ended, I headed home, though I would have liked to have left at 12, I decided to be responsible and wash my dishes and fold my clothes. These were tasks that I had been avoiding for at least 2 days though so I guess it wasn’t so much me taking initiative as it was me doing what was absolutely necessary at the time. So after all was said and done, I ended up leaving around 1.

Why was I going home you ask? I shall answer. BECAUSE OF THE JACK’S MANNEQUIN CONCERT!!!! I got two tickets for my birthday from my parents. I drove home, and passed my 2nd Amish person that I have seen on my journeys home and back to school. You would think that I would see more. There are a ton of “Share the Road” signs, and I’ve gone home like 6 or 7 times total so the chances are pretty high. I was listening to my Jack’s Mannequin CD that I burned myself, but it doesn’t have a case so it got pretty scratched and soon I had to put in the real life CD of theirs that just came out in October. I got home around 4, got ready, and left around 5:15 to go to Kelsey’s. We went to Fazoli’s and then to Kansas City for the concert.

It was at the Beaumont Club in Westport. We brought in our coats but it was hot in the place, and pretty small. We got big red X’s on our hands and paid a $2 fee for being minors. I still have the X’s on my hands. I didn’t want to hold my coat so I found a railing against a wall with a sign over and and wrapped my coat around the railing and covered it with the sign again. Good decision all around. The concert was supposed to start at 7:30 but of course there were opening acts. The first one was some hipster named Allen Stone who bears a striking resemblance to Rees Purdom and also seemed to share the same affinity for unique outfits. He was on for like 30 minutes and by this point I was booing him. Then another band called Jukebox the Ghost (which Kelsey kept calling Jukebox the Swamp) came on and they were all right but I was like come on I just want to see Jack’s Mannequin.

Around 9:30, they finally came on. Andrew McMahon. ❤ They opened up with my favorite song, The Mixed Tape. Here’s a video that was uploaded by someone incompetent who only managed to get it starting halfway through. Not much to choose from on YouTube when it’s only been 5 days since the concert.

At one point someone threw their beer up in the air and we all got wet and I thought it was a special effect. Nope. Anyway, that was my first concert and it was super fun. I love how you can hear the crowd singing in that video. Usually it’s just me singing alone in the car on 3 hour commutes. I have to go see them again. One of my top 10 favorite things that I’ve ever done.

The only other noteworthy occurrence of the past week was when I was filling up my car before heading back to school on Sunday. I had pushed down the little handle on the gas pump so I wouldn’t have to hold it, and a while later gas is coming out of the gas tank and I took out the handle and that thing was still shooting gas out all over the place like a hose. So we probably lost like a gallon of gas and it went to the pavement. Some homie at the car in front of me started talking to me and said I should go tell the people inside. Well duh. So I went in and it was Jake Douthat working, which was awkward because remember the time when we went on a date and he threw up? Well I went back to my car and the homie said “nice to meet you” as if we had a real conversation and I called my dad to make sure my car wasn’t going to blow up. He said no.

And on the way back to school I saw my THIRD Amish person.
