Two months of No Privacy Ever

It’s been a rough few days getting back into the swing of school after a dream come true fall break vacation experience. Shameless plug for my blog again.

I’ve been having some issues with one of my roommates, Megan. She doesn’t know we’re having issues because they’re always when she’s drunk so she never remembers them later. You might recall how she and Hanna almost got in a physical fight a few weeks ago when Megan was being a mean drunk.

The other night was Halloween which of course was a big thing here for all us Americans. I came up with my costume while at the store at 7pm. I got a black and white striped shirt for £3 and a mask for £2.50. I borrowed a hat from Hanna and ta-da, I was a robber, or “The Hamburgaler” as I decided to call myself to differentiate myself from the most annoying person here named Brian who was also a robber but basically only meant he was wearing a mask. Hanna was a cat and Megan was “risky business.” She asked me if she could borrow my tennis shoes and I said yes because I borrowed her black flats a few times this semester. We had some alcohol and took lots of pictures with the rest of our friends for a while.

Our friends left for O’Neill’s at about 10:30, but we couldn’t leave because Hanna had a friend from our school who is studying abroad in Greece coming to visit and for some reason his flight wasn’t getting in until 10pm, so he got here at midnight. He is staying in our room this weekend. Hanna, Madi, and I waited for him (his name is Tristan) and then we left around 12:15. By the time we got to O’Neill’s at 1, everyone else was ready to leave. Hanna immediately started dancing with a random guy from our school (as per usual) and ignoring us. Then I had to babysit Tristan because he was in a huge hot club where he didn’t know anyone except for vaguely knowing me from one class we had together freshman year. “Well this is awkward, because I came to hang out with Hanna…” he said after she disappeared after about 10 minutes.

Long story short, Hanna disappeared with all our stuff like normal, Megan was a huge drunk bitch to me, we went home at 3am, Megan and her “boyfriend” Austin had sex in our room for like an hour, Tristan and I came back to the room at 4:30 to go to bed and Austin stayed the night. Hanna came back inside at 8am and she and Megan were soooo loud. They don’t even pretend to be quiet in the morning. They went to breakfast and then I was alone in the room with Tristan for like an hour and a half, again. So we talked a lot and he’s nice but it was awkward.

I was a little upset with Hanna about the night before and did not want to be around Megan so I went to breakfast at 10 with Carson and then we went straight to the library… I was there for 7 hours. Doing a paper. Sorry I didn’t blog yesterday, it’s because I was doing that. I did not want to see Hanna or Megan and I just needed a break from them. I was able to stay out of the room all the way until like midnight, and I mostly finished my paper. I was kind of grumpy though because I had been writing the paper ALL DAY and I wasn’t sure yet if I was ready to see people again.

I went into the room and Megan and Austin were there. Megan was drunk. I saw she had returned my shoes and they were covered in black stuff. “What happened?” I asked, holding one up. “They were like that when you gave them to me.” I told Megan they were not. “What are you talking about, Cathy? I wasn’t that drunk last night.” I said nothing and dropped the shoe to the floor. Pissed. I texted Hanna and asked where she was.

Megan decided she was going out and “Austin’s just going to stay here in our room because he’s sick and he can’t sleep with people in his room.”

Hanna told me to come downstairs because everyone was leaving. I was on my way when she told me Megan came back so I took a detour to the bathroom and contemplated my next move.

I decided the best choice was to just go in a stall and sit on the toilet lid and just be alone. So I did.

About 10 minutes later I heard Hanna and Tristan come in. “Is Cathy in here?” she asked. Yeah, I’m in here, I said and opened the stall door. She started laughing and hugged me and gave me a candy bar from the vending machine.

We went to talk on the floor in the hallway because Megan came back up and decided she wasn’t going out. I told Hanna why I had been upset the night before and it was fine.

Five people slept in our tiny room last night. Megan and Austin in Megan’s bed, Hanna and I in our beds, and Tristan on a mattress on the floor. I considered sleeping in Carson and Robbie’s room instead but didn’t want to drag my mattress down 4 floors.

It’s just been a little overwhelming. Sometimes you just need your own space even when you aren’t mad at people, and especially when you are. I still don’t want to be around Megan so I have been out of my room since 12:30 today and now it’s 5.

The only privacy I’ve had for the past 2 months is in the toilet and the shower. I think that would get to anyone after a while.

Happy Halloween!

I got off work about an hour ago. I was working HV’s Halloween Walk. Basically they have like 12ish stations where kids can walk around the store and trick or treat. They didn’t tell me I needed to be in costume, but of course I at least assumed, and then decided to turn against my assumption and went into work dressed in normal uniform. When I got to work, they said “Megan where’s your costume?” I had two options, a chicken or the gorilla suit. I chose the chicken. Basically it consisted of a chicken hat, a yellow boa, and yellow leg things that you slipped on over your pants (I’m not really for sure how to describe that part). Good think no one got a picture of that because it was pretty bad.

After that I spent 3 hours handing out pudding cups to various characters. I saw a lot of Monsters Inc. people, Woody and Buzz, and princesses. My favorite of all was this kid who came up to me and said “I’m The Doctor!”, then I geeked out for a little bit. OMG it was the cutest costume. He had the bow-tie, a fez, suspenders and even a SONIC SCREWDRIVER. AHHH!! And there were also like 3 kids who dressed up like the Martians from Sesame Street. Their mom made their costumes, it was pretty cute.

Then there were smaller families that came through all dressed together as a theme. The cutest one of that was a small child dressed in a lobster costume in a big metal pot that was carried by the dad who was in a chef’s costume. HAHA. There were several families where the mom and dad were Woody and Jessie and the small child was Buzz. Also, awkward moment when one of your physiology professors and his kids walk through. Also there were a lot of aswans, and some that spoke Chinese and I could secretly understand what they were saying. LOL.

Because it was Halloween, Sonic had 50 cent corndog all day. I bought 5 today. No judgment please. 😛

Top things I learned this week.

Hello friends.

This post is going to be short. FYI. But here are somethings I learned this week.

1. You may say you’re going to study well in advance for a test. But if that actually happens…  Well, go you!
2.NEVER lie down while studying for said test. You might accidently fall asleep and waste 2 out of your 13ish precious hours you have left to study with. Even if you tell yourself, “I’ll only sleep for 30 mins.” Does it ever really end up being 30 minutes? No. Go study at your desk.
3. Classes should be canceled the week of election week. Heck, they should just make a month long break between the first week of November and Thanksgiving every 4 years. Between voting and watching TV I certainly did not accomplish anything on election day. The results were just so intriguing that I stayed up until 2 am. I had class the next morning at 8 am. Whoops.
4. Halloween is a horrible holiday for people trying to watch their food intake. You should see my trash can. It’s overflowing with candy wrappers. It’s too crazy to pass up cheap name-brand candy and I like Reeses too much.
5. Make sure you check you car’s coolant! My car’s was empty when I got home. And if my mom hadn’t told me to check it, well, I’d probably be without a car.

Must go study for this stupid test now.

PS. If you see me online after you read this post, please ask me WTF I’m doing because there is absolutely no reason why I should be FB when I have barely studied for this test. Then tell me to get off the computer. Thanks! 🙂

What is this shit?

This past week has been really busy for me, I’ve only had 2 days off from work since last Sunday. Thursday night, I worked at the front desk and work was so boring and there was so little to do that I almost fell asleep in my chair.

Caitlin went home this weekend for the J-Biebs concert, so I didn’t think I’d be doing too much because we usually hang out all weekend. Friday night, one of the girls from Authentic and a few other girls asked if I wanted to go see “Perks of Being a Wallflower” with them and I was excited they invited me! So we stopped at Walmart to get candy and snacks first, then went to see it. Me and another girl from KC got really excited at the beginning because the movie theater company has a really funny introduction and we were looking forward to it.

The movie was good, and it got over around midnight. On the way back to school, we got stopped at… a sobriety checkpoint! I was super excited and I think it was all of our first times going through one. The police officer shined his light at all of us and got Erica’s license since she was driving and asked where we were coming from, and we said the movies, and he asked what we saw. He told us the last thing he was Magic Mike. Anyway it was pretty painless.

Saturday I worked at the front desk again and it was the best day so far. In the staff room there were Halloween cookies and candy bags for us. There was a baby shower in the community room and a lady asked us if we wanted cupcakes. We watched tv and listened to Taylor Swift’s new album. I got some homework done. One girl I was working with was painting her nails like that’s a totally normal thing to do as a front desk receptionist, but since she’s worked there for like 6 years I would trust her. Later she made us pizza pockets for dinner. If that’s the kind of stuff I get paid to do, I am more than happy.

When I got home Saturday night, Kayla, Tobi, and Deidre were getting ready to go to the quad for Halloween and I assisted with their costumes. The quad is where all the fraternity houses are/where the parties all are. I didn’t go to the quad last year but I kind of wanted to this year but I hadn’t made any plans. I texted Candace and asked if she was going, and she said their group was going in like an hour and a half, so I was like crap, I need to dress up! As you can see from my updated “about me” picture, I dressed as my old standby of hipster.

The quad was weird. It was all blocked off with orange plastic fencing so the only way in was through the Lambda Chi Alpha house. Police officers waited at the entrance and checked our Drury ID’s because they didn’t want anyone from Missouri State to get in. Also they wrote huge “M’s” for MINOR on our hands with a big fat black marker.  We danced in all the houses, watched a lot of people stumble down hallways and pass out in doorways, and my personal highlight was when a girl from that I haven’t seen in a while grabbed my hand, slurred “Do you remember me?” and then kissed me on the cheek. Also when two girls came around with pumpkin buckets and offered “Candy or Condoms?”

Worked again Sunday, got free pizza from a birthday party. Seriously, this is my kind of job.

Yesterday I woke up with a cold though. And last night, I slept for a grand total of… zero minutes! That’s right, I did not sleep a single second last night. My heart rate is really high and it felt like my body was/is  basically in panic mode. My whole body is sore from the cold and I CAN’T SLEEP! I emailed my professors around 4:00am because by then I basically decided I wasn’t going to class. Also I had to email the volunteer coordinator at the animal shelter, and I was scheduled to work today so I had to call in. Around 5:30am I called my parents and they told me to go to Walgreens when it opened (stupid, they aren’t 24 hours like at home) so I went at 7:00am and got some Benadryl to make me drowsy.

When I came back to the apartment I still couldn’t sleep, so I went to the nurse that opened at 8:30. She gave me some stuff for a cold, and told me to take another Benadryl. She told me to come back if my heart rate didn’t go down.

I just went back to the nurse. I can sleep for about 15 minutes at a time, even though it’s very shallow sleep and I wake up very suddenly. What is this shit??? It reminds me of when I had to go to the ER in the middle of the night on Christmas during senior year because I was dehydrated. They gave me an IV and I got knocked out to sleep, and it was awesome. I got a doctor’s appointment for 2:00, but I wish they would just give me an IV too, but I doubt that will happen. I hope I can get some sleep soon
