It’s already APRIL

2 Apr

I forgot to blog.
April Fools! I was just really busy and this will be the only “joke” I’ve played on anyone today. Did you all play any tricks on anyone?
Alright so my week was short, but the weekend was long. That has to be the best formula for a week there is.

Monday I had an interview with the baseball coaches about the position of Bat Girl. I think it went relatively well. It lasted a total of ten minutes, but in that time I chatted it up about the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field, and found out that the coach’s first declared major was geology- just like me! So I think I made a good impression and I should know about the internship at the end of this week or the beginning of next. I will keep you posted! Monday I also started taking allergy medicine and man it makes me drowsy- so drowsy that all I did Tuesday was sleep.

Wednesday I learned how to tie Bowline on a Bight and a Fisherman’s knot. I also learned how to belay. I feel so cool because I know this stuff. Like for real. I am totally new to all this so I lucked out when my partners during grounds school were pretty much pro-climbers. One of their names is J.J. and he helped me a lot, and I hope he is the one that my life is entrusted upon while I’m climbing tomorrow because he sure knows what he is doing.

Thursday, Kendal and I went to find storage places in Greeley so we can keep our winter and bulky items here over the summer. We had to go to 4th avenue… the train tracks are on 6th avenue. Here’s the number one rule on campus: Don’t cross the train tracks.
Side note- we (The University of Northern Colorado) have a whole website devoted to this on facebook. I think it’s stellar, and if you would like to look at more just search for University of Northern Colorado Meme page. (I don’t really know how to spell that “M” word but, I think you get what I’m trying to communicate.)
Ok so we get to this storage place and no one is there. The gates are locked and it really just looks deserted. The next door neighbors own a huge bloodhound that hasn’t stopped barking since our arrival and all the signs are like hand painted on plywood. If this isn’t sketch then I don’t know what is folks. We tried to find other places but this one is dirt cheap, split between 2 people it will cost $70 and my dad was anticipating $200! This is a steal- I just don’t know if I want to chance my things being stolen. Also on Thursday is Nav Night. After that, Kendal and I went to J.J.’s house because he was hosting a worship night. We got there and I was a little skeptical because I only knew one person there and we aren’t like great friends. But it turned out to be a great experience and I am looking forward to next time.

Friday night was great fun. My hall got together and played Fugitive! I love that almost everyone on my floor is so nice and fun and open and likes to stay sober every once in a while. After 2 rounds, we played capture the flag then hit a couple hitches- there were rule disputes and a couple of cranky folks so we opted to walk to the McDonald’s for snacks instead. The weather was perfect and we all enjoyed our fun filled evening outside; we finished the night with the movie Thor. I had never seen it but I am a huge fan now.

Saturday Tori and I spent some time alone and went shopping for Easter stuff. I ended the day with 2 shirts purchased and nothing to wear for Easter.
That leads us to today. Sunday was so beautiful! I had a soccer game at 1 and we won by like 6 against a team of giants. Then I stayed out on the scorching hot turf to watch another hour long game and finished the day with a gnarly farmer’s tan. It’s more like a burn but…. details details…
I will end this post with Happy Palm Sunday, Happy Monday, Happy Good Friday and See you Soon!!
~Morgan

P.S. I have noticed that I really love to use adjectives. I hope that it doesn’t bother you and only adds to your wild reading experience! (See what I did there)

p.p.s. It is so windy here that, even with the windows closed and a fan running, the wind is howling so loud that it just woke up Tori, and that is hard to do once she’s in bed asleep. I hate wind.

p.p.p.s. Rock Chalk Jayhawk, KU!

Whoops….

22 Jan

So it’s 6:30pm and I almost forgot to blog about my life. I know, I know this would have been awful. Here goes…..
Monday- No class, so I slept late and watched movies I think (I can’t remember, this was a whole week ago…).
Tuesday- Longest day if the week. I have Geology lab from 9:30 to noon, Geology lecture from 12:30 to 2 and Biology lab from 7 to 9:50pm. This leaves no time for lunch, and no time fo fun after a long day of science. Both these sciences are on totally different ends of the spectrum, so it is not similar and I cry a lot.
Wednesday- Class all day, literally. I start at 10am and don’t end until 9pm
Thursday- I have Geology lecture and that is all folks! Again, Thursdays are my favorite day of the week. I sleep late(ish) and I have plenty of time to nap. This week I went to Navigators which is a Christian group on campus. They are actually pretty well-known for their Bible studies and stuff. You should look them up if you have the time, I don’t have time to add a link because if I took the time to figure it out this would not be posted until Monday and I might be tar-and-feathered.
Friday- Class, ending at 3:20. This friday I did laundry which has been piling up for two weeks, but it was all finished in two hours! Success. Then right before class I got to go to Starbucks which was the second highlight of the week. The best thing that happened this week was in Multicultural Studies; we watched a movie! Kevin Costner is in it, and during the glorious movie my professer fell asleep!
WEEKEND- I spent it with Kendal. She lives in Lawrenson which is the tallest building from Denver to Cheyenne, Wyoming. From her windows I can actually see MOUNTAINS! (plus she has a kitchen and really nice roommates) Oh and I went to church and am in a Bible study group if there is one that doesn’t conflict with my ridiculous schedule.
This has been a hectic week and there is so much going on that I can’t tell you all of it. Sorry for this bland post but I am wiped out, but alas, my week starts again in approximately 12 hours…. no time for rest.
Oh and did I mention, I applied for 2 jobs. Hobby Lobby and Sky Blu (a frozen yogurt place). Wish me luck on actually getting a job.
I need sleep…

and a milkshake.

Living The Honey Badger Life

16 Jan

I am am living my life right  like the Honey Badger, which is my FAVORITE animal.

Honey Badgers opinion on most things: Honey Badger don’t give a shit!

This semester I am taking 14 credit Hours. Monday I only have Geology from 10-11:50 am, so far I like it allot and find most of it interesting enough to pay attention the whole time, except for the one day we discussed chemistry (I hate chemistry its the reason I am not a geology major).

Tuesday I have Sociology from 9:35-10:50, its not near as fun as Mr. Vickers class was, but its not to bad. Then I have Art appreciation from 3:35-4:50 pm, it is the most boring class ever! My Professor shows us picture after stupid picture, and she  just goes crazy over analyzing them. One picture she showed us was a bunch of random black straight lines crossing randomly over each other with a white background, and she related it to Lions chasing a water buffalo in Africa. Straight lines = Lions in Africa, hell no they don’t. (she is freaking crazy). My opinion of that class is the same as the Honey badger.

Wednesday I only have Geology again, but starting on February 27th I have Ropes Challenger course facilitator training from 4:30-7:30pm out at the lake. This class is once a week for only the second half of the semester for 3 easy a credits which I need badly (more on that later). This is the hardest climbing class they have, the whole class is about them teaching us advanced climbing skills and safety and what not. If I finish this class which I will (It was pretty much made for me), then I will be a certified climbing instructor and I will be able to get a job next year assisting with the other climbing classes.

Thursday I have Sociology and art again, but I also have Geology lab from 1-2:50 pm which so far I like.

Friday I only have Geology again.

I am on academic probation from last semester which means that to be able to attend school there next year (not sure I even want to), I have to get my whole GPA including last semesters classes above a 2.0. Last semester I had a 1.3 GPA I know I am bad student but that’s low even for me. So to get it up I cant have any F’s or D’s, I can have one C and I need some A’s. Hints why I took easy classes. Being kicked out of school is the motivation I needed because I am actually trying and paying attention in all of my classes for the first time in EVER EVER EVER.

Peace to your Pet Honey Badgers, Love to your inner Honey Badger, and Happiness to your Honey Badger thoughts!

Live A Little
