Omelets, Work, and One Direction

29 Aug

Well there’s probably a list of about 15 things I should be doing right now, but I’m for sure not doing any of them. So that’s that.

This week has been pretty mediocre for the most part. I worked what seemed to be like a million hours this weekend. Call me crazy, yes, but my paycheck will be so awesome, hopefully. And this weekend I’m doing it all over again.

Yesterday I attempted to cook (something other than ramen, cookies or pancakes from the box) for myself for the first time ever in my life. I made tomato, green pepper, and cheese omelets. And they turned out pretty tasty! I had actually YouTubed videos on how to cook omelets before hand. HAHA. But I’m not going to lie, I did have a slight fear I was going to burn down our apartment complex. Luckily that did not happen.  I’m going to try to cook more this often this semester, but we’ll see how that actually turns out. Anyway here’s the end result of one of the omelets. Not the greatest looking omelet, but my tummy was happy!

T-minus 5 days until the most important day thus far in my life. I am so so so so so nervous and ridiculously stressed. I’ve revised my résumé pretty much every day this week, and I had the tutoring center look over it every day as well. After we turn in applications, there’s one week until interviews. Then the following week we will know if we made it in or not. It’s all happening so fast, and I just keep freaking out and stressing out. AHHHH!

Also the One Direction movie comes out tomorrow and I probably won’t get to see it without having to pay 9 dollars because of my work schedule. That’s depressing. I mean I love One Direction, but I’m not rich enough to love them for 9-13 dollars. You know what I mean? Does that sound bad?

And also SANTACALIGON! “Clay flowers, all flowers made of clay.” And chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches. I can’t wait.

That’s all I got for this week.
Have a relaxing Labor Day weekend!

PS. If you haven’t seen the trailer for One Direction’s movie, shame on you.

Just call me chef Kendyl.

This week I decided to learn to cook… well a little bit.

On Saturday I night I made Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and gravy (all from scratch). I found the recipe here and after 2 ½ hours and 5 phone calls to my mother I would say I was pretty successful.

Then on Sunday I had nothing better to do so I found a recipe for shrimp scampi here so I made that and put it over pasta. I also baked some fresh green beans with the recipe I found here. This was much easier than the chicken fried steak because I just had to use the oven. When there is “pan-sizzling” (this is what I call cooking things on the stove) involved I freak out.

Today I have been doing everything not to study I made mac and cheese when I wasn’t even hungry, made several cards and I practiced packing all the things I am going to bring to Finland. After my classes tomorrow I am going to head home for the long weekend and then come back for my finals on Monday and Tuesday. Then I leave for Finland on the 13th!

Keep it Classy.

Lately.

Thanksgiving break was pretty great, but it was definitely too short. I spent Thanksgiving at my grandparents house and ate some really delicious food and what I like to call desserts of the world: apple pie, pumpkin pie, and blueberry cobbler (just kidding all those things are pretty American). Then on Friday we always have a chili dinner at one of my aunts or uncle’s house. We also had pulled pork sandwiches so I got my BBQ fix. Then Saturday we went up to my Grandma’s farm and had some more food.

One of the girls in my sorority from Jewell messaged me the other day and asked if I would be interested in walking in Kansas City Fashion Week for one of her designer friends. I was like why not? So, I told her sure. I don’t really know many details yet other than its March 3rd and I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to walk in heels, which makes me a wee bit nervous considering I don’t even own a pair of heels. (OK that’s a lie, I own one pair, but it’s like a 1-inch heel.

Lately I’ve been watching a lot of indie films on Netflix and some of them are actually pretty good. They have a sense of realness and awkwardness that some other films lack. Some of the ones I’ve liked so far are Life Happens (It has Krysten Ritter in it. Love her.), Like Crazy, and Take Me Home.

The townhome is gaining a dog on Thursday. Yesterday we went to the Columbia Humane Society to help Kellan pick out a dog because he feels the need to get one. Not going to lie it’s pretty cute and I’m kind of excited, but I do worry a little bit about how this is going to work out.

I’ve been doing pretty well with exercising and going to the Rec center while here at school, but I would like to start to eat healthier and learn to cook (to some extent). Maybe that will be one of my new year’s resolutions.

The semester is so close from being over. I can’t wait.

Keep it Classy.

P.S. If you’re looking for something new to listen to consider Lana Del Rey’s album paradise. (You may not like it, but I think its pretty great)

not caring about school anymore because there is only 1 month left

Today is the first day in a while where I don’t know what to write about, but I will try to think of something.

I always do. Thursday at 3 I left to go home for Easter, which was cool. Friday morning I had an interview for a summer job at UpDog; it was super chill and the guy who interviewed me didn’t write my answers down or anything, we just had a conversation. I think I’ll get the job.

Friday I also found out I did get selected out of like 60 people to be an ambassador, I think I wrote about that in my last post but I pretty much knew I’d get it. Friday I went to church at 3 and we dyed Easter eggs that night. I had a video assignment due Tuesday, which I had not started on, hence I had to film at home. I used my dad’s video camera, but alas, I FORGOT MY FREAKING TRIPOD HEFOWAFNMKS;NVSDZK;NVD. What a pain in the ass. I had to conduct interviews by sitting my family down at the kitchen table and putting the camera on a peanut butter jar in order to achieve proper framing.

Saturday I did my photography assignment at Carrie’s soccer game, and that was fun because I hadn’t been to one of her games since last season (fall). Moritz told her to score a goal for him before the game (she never scores goals) and lo and behold… she did! I also made mini Easter cheesecakes that I found on pinterest, and they had devil coconut on it. But I don’t mind coconut. Then we went from church from 8-10pm, and I’m almost 100% sure that I was the last one to blow out my candle when they told us to. (I kept letting mine stay lit for like 5 extra minutes.)

Sunday was Easter, Carrie woke me up too early at 8:00 am, and I went downstairs to my awesome Easter basket, including about 30,000 calories worth of chocolate. I still have this weird thing going on where I never have much of an appetite, so I didn’t eat a lot of it yet, and I left it at home when I came back to school. Who IS this person that I’m turning into?! My dad had been saying that there would be no “Amazing Race/Easter Egg Hunt” this year (Morgan, you can understand what I’m talking about) but we ended up having one anyway, he tricked us 🙂 It was a little shorter though, but it was still a lot of fun, and included but was not limited to: filling a sock up with lima beans in a relay race, sitting on a bench in a small cemetery, going to an arcade, giving cookies to firemen, and “destroying the Horcruxes” by using a slingshot to shoot marbles at 6 plates with pictures of Voldemort, Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, Professor Umbridge, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Dementors taped to them. I broke Voldemort.

Sunday night I decided I didn’t feel like driving back to school, so I played hooky on Monday! (My first time for these classes, but they are MWF at 9, 10, and 11 so I couldn’t really get back in time in the morning.) I did my Spanish homework that was due and emailed it to him. I woke up around 8:30 and left at 10:30. Got back at 1:30, skyped briefly (because Moritz is in Spain Tuesday-Thursday), and then proceeded to the Mac Lab to work on my video project.

What I was not anticipating was the fact that I had to transfer 20+ video clips to the Mac computer via MY 8GIG MEMORY CARD. That was annoying. I had to do it because a portable hard drive can’t be compatible with a mac and pc simultaneously. THEN I had to convert all the files to be able to be seen on Final Cut Pro, THEN they didn’t have sound so I had to convert them again. This took about 2 hours. By the time the video was done, I had spent a total of SEVEN CONSECUTIVE HOURS on this dang assignment. However, time went fast due to the high level of fun I was having.

(hope you guys can see it)

Tonight we’re having an event called Sex on Campus, where the human sexuality teacher answers people’s anonymous questions. I signed up to “chalk” for the event, meaning write information on the ground outside around campus. I incidentally made a trail of sperm that lead to the building in which the event is held. Clever, I know.

I’m tired of typing, you’re probably tired of reading, see you on the flip side.
