Yo. Yo. Yo. I should be working on a computer science program but this is better than doing that.
I’ve been having this problem with my eye where it’s been hurting for about a week. Friday I went to the nurse and I got an appointment at one of Springvegas’s many hospitals, fo freeee. Apparently all of us pay a health fee every year so we get free doctor’s visits. But they didn’t do anything except tell me to buy these $15 eye drops at Walgreens and to come back on Monday if it wasn’t better. It wasn’t better, but it snowed and I didn’t feel like going out so I had my mom make me an appointment for this weekend at home with an ophthalmologist. At Walgreens I also bought a bag of miniature Reese’s cups and ate the whole bag while catching up on my television shows, because Caitlin was gone for the weekend and I was bored.
Friday I also had an interview at Hallmark, I thought it went really well but I didn’t get the job. Guess I will just continue to be broke af.
Well obviously it snowed on Monday. One of my teachers cancelled class cause she’s badass and was like “Let’s call it a snowday” even though it wasn’t that bad. I have a portrait assignment due in a couple weeks for photography so I took some pictures of Caitlin in the snow. The fitness center closed early so I was able to watch a full episode of the Bachelor. (I still hate Courtney.) Then I spent the night in Caitlin’s room because Alexis was somewhere else and she said I could sleep in her bed, and Caitlin and I both had 8am class so we figured it would work. It felt weird hauling my duffel bag upstairs to have a sleepover in a different room of the same building.
Yesterday was Valentine’s Day. My classes were pretty boring; in photography we just did a critique of the last project and in Video we just watched our last project. BUT AT LUNCH IT WAS VALENTINE’S BUFFET AND THERE WAS A FREAKING CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN. And red velvet cake balls and white cake balls and pineapple and strawberry and pretzels and cookies and all kinds of deliciousness. I LOVE SCHOOL. Also that wasn’t even the dessert bar, which is always awesome, but yesterday it was even more so. Last night Kayla and I had our date, and Caitlin ended up coming along too because her dance practice got canceled. We had reservations at one of the nicer restaurants in town called Kai which is a sushi place. Kayla ordered one that was on fire. It was really nice, I felt like that restaurant belonged somewhere like Los Angeles instead of Springfield, Missouri. We got really full but then we went to The Cup because Kayla said she had never been before and I said I hadn’t been in a whole week and was obviously due back for another visit. We went back to school for a while and I got a package from my mom that included a lot of chocolate. Then we saw The Vow at 9:50 at one of the theaters. It was okay but I did not cry at all like I was expecting to! And I HATED the ending!!!
Caitlin, Kayla, one of Kayla’s friends, and I are applying to live in one of the on-campus apartments next year. There are 5 apartments that are really nice, and two groups of four live in each. (One on the upper floor, one on the lower.) These apartments include a kitchen with a stove, oven, full-length fridge, microwave, and dishwasher(!!!!!), four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a washer and dryer (!!!!!) and a living room, and a cute little bar area. I WANT IT SO BAD! The thing is, you have to have a full-year service project in order to live there, and preference is given to sophomores. We have to fill out this lengthy application and turn it in, and then we will find out if we need to come back and present it to a panel. We’ll find out by next Friday if we got it. Today Caitlin and I went to go meet with the volunteer coordinator and when we tried to drive there, my car wouldn’t start. We took hers instead and when we got back I called Security to try and help me start it, but they said it wasn’t working and must be some other problem. So I just called my dad and I don’t know what we’ll do now because I was supposed to go home this weekend.
The only other interesting thing was Spanish class today. My teacher was talking about the verb “coger” (ko-hair, not kogurr) which means “to grab” or “to catch” or pretty much anything that involves the action of taking, or something innocent like that, but thanks to Ms. Diecidue in Spanish III, I also happened to know that it doubles for meaning the verb of the F-word. Apparently that is a cultural thing in Spain, but not in South America. So today Dr. Chamorro told my class full of unsuspecting students – “It means ‘to fahk’.” (He is Argentinan.) So then we all laughed because I’ve only heard one other teacher say the F-word before but she didn’t say it like an Argentinan because she’s American. But then he said, “This is only in Spain! Imagine if people from Australia came to America and they were using fahk for every word because it doesn’t mean the same to them? ‘I will fahk the pencil. Fahk the trashcan. I want you to fahk my backpack.’ That’s what it’s like when people from South America go to Spain.” Totes awks.
Okay guys, go out and fahk the day.
P.S. Jackie Robinson is trending so I’ll use him as my pop culture reference of the day because he has an awesome last name.
